Blake Sims does not have the highest ceiling out of all the QBs on the team. Without a doubt he has the highest floor and the biggest heart. I've doubted him all year, and not because he was black, but because I didn't think he had the accuracy or the arm strength or the mental understanding of the position to be a viable starter. He has come light years in the mental aspects of the game, though he still makes mistakes, and I still don't think he plays to his ceiling on a consistent basis.

All of that being said.

I respect the kid, a ton. I am incredibly proud of him. He isn't my favorite QB to play at Alabama, but he is trying to become my favorite player. Simply based on heart. Since that third interception in the AU game he has played amazingly well. That third TD to Cooper was thrown 65 yards in the air and landed on a dime perfectly in stride. Something I thought him completely incapable of being able to do.

I understand the game, and will always say exactly what I think without holding anything back. This leads me to seem negative at times when I am simply being realistic. I haven't been completely wrong about Sims, but I have been wrong about some things.

Such as the following:
He doesn't have the arm strength to stretch a defense(65yd throw)
We cannot win a title with him starting(SEC)
He can't read a defense( he couldn't, one of the areas hr has improved greatly, still not great at it but can progress through reads now)

Those are just three of the several things I've had wrong. There are a lot I've been right about as well but this post is about how good Blake has been.

Honestly, he has played his way into potentially getting drafted. I don't think he is an NFL starter, but he is literally the perfect scout team QB. He can emulate everything a defense needs to see. Should have a very long career. Then again, I think he has the potential to be as good as Geno Smith. If not a bit better. Not exactly a high bar though...

I think if a team like the Eagles use a late round pick on him, he might have a little chance...if Chip Kelly can turn Sanchez into an NFL starter, who knows what he could do with Blake...

If it doesn't work out for him in the NFL though, his skills, as they stand right now, are suited well for the CFL...think he could thrive up in Canada...
