This year or last year?

Last year... This year they lost to a shitty UGA team 34-0. That's pretty bad

Offensively - last year
Defensively - this year
So half and half
Defensively - this year
So half and half

Do you feel like the zou defense is the best in the sec?

Last year's.
But this year's team has intangibles last year's team didn't. They're mentally tough and resilient in a way we haven't seen at Mizzou for a long time.
And I wouldn't draw a lot of conclusions about our game with Auburn. Steckel's defense doesn't do well with that kind of offense. Never has. Never will.

Its an honor to play in the ATL it really is. I am impressed with the zou.

Same question back to you.
To answer yours... Last year's.
I think the 2013 team could have beaten Alabama. This one can too, but it has to be a game played on Missouri's terms. Last year's team could have beaten Alabama on anyone's terms. They may not have, but the fact that a similar styled Oklahoma team took them out gives the idea credence.
Auburn was nightmare match-up and most Mizzou fans knew we were going to lose. That's not the case this year.
That said, if Blake Sims goes unmolested in the pocket Missouri IS losing.

I think we were a bit better last year honestly.

The stats say no but I would put our D along side any in the SEC.

So both teams are in decline?

I do too, but daymn! What Kiffin has done with your offense has been transformative.
In building scenarios for Missouri to win in my mind, I'm hoping the move to more reliance on offense results in a New England Patriot-like outcome where their move toward offense weakens their ability to win close snot-knockers and they lose the big game to clearly inferior teams.
It's almost comical to think MU comes into the SECCG trying to win in the traditional SEC old school style.

Old school works. Run the ball and win with defense and special teams.

The problem there is Blake has great pocket presence. He hardly ever gets sacked and not because the OL is so great pass blocking but because he can feel the pressure and has great quickness. He is a better scrambler than I've seen at Alabama. And if this game is somehow close he will be the difference maker because the guy is clutch. He has one of the highest 3rd down conversion records in the country.

Good point.
The other thing that gives Mizzou a glimmer of hope is all three phases have never clicked at the same time.
When the offense was in the shitter, the defense and STs were humming. And now that the offense has rounded into shape (see the last three games), the special teams have gone into the shitter. But at least the defense has been the constant. Even in the Georgia game, the defense performed. The offense hung them out to dry with turnovers and short fields.
And while everyone deservedly bags us for Indiana, the team was playing without their 2nd best player and team leader, Markus Golden. And their best corner (Kenya Dennis) wasn't given the starting role until after that fiasco.
The entire dynamic of the defense changed after those two players entered (or re-entered) the starting line-up.

No doubt. LSU fans do not deserve Les. I love the philosophy that he and bert implement.

Yeah, it's pretty much pick your poison.
The SEC Film Room highlighted Sims poorer performances came when he had to improvise and move, so hopefully Mizzou just plays their game and keeps the score in the low 20's.
It's still shocking they would be warming up Coker in the Iron Bowl. Embarrassing, really. Hopefully that lack of loyalty toward him comes back to bite them in the arse this week.

Nothing wrong with warming up Coker. At that time coach needed to light a fire under Blakes arse. It worked.

The amazing thing is that we're winning with so many damn penalties. Pinkel's teams are usually pretty disciplined.

Yeah. I'm grasping at straws here.
