Then get off your wallet and donate $3 to 4m a year and save the program. Either donate or shut up. Posting on Twitter and FaceBook is just a cheap way of getting attention.

UAB had 10 players go to the NFL. Where are they when it comes to saving the program?

Hard to disagree with this point.....NFL player whining on twitter without doing anything about this are what they are...whiners.

If people knew how much schools hit up alumni (especially successful alumni) for donations then they'd know how vital those donations are to the program. Surprisingly, athletes don't give back as much as other alum.

I agree, if you want to help, do something.

If it doesn't affect you then why does it bother you? Just let it go, there are alot of lives affected by the decision.

Where do you think the money to subsidize the football program comes from? Unlike the Federal Govt who can just print more money, the states either have to raise taxes or cut costs. It affects everyone.

I'm speaking more in regards to the athletes, band members, and parents who were affected. To me some of the comments are insensitive to that reality. Just my opinion and I've said the same when factories close and jobs are sent oversees.

UAB and the City of Bham have to take some responsibility here. I hate it for the kids but throwing more money at it doesn't fix the problem.

At some point how many college football teams can the state of Alabama support?

They are in college to learn...they should be grateful for the life lesson that nothing is permanent and to always have a backup plan.

Rant trolling aside, this isn't a great look for the Alabama system. They're losing the marketing battle.

Better to lose a battle and win the war. Let Bham take over the UAB football program if it's so important. They rant and rave and when it comes to ponying up, that get very shy.

FAU just had a booster donate $16M to their athletic program. That was during a booster drive for the department. Remind me when the same drive was held for UAB? Oh yeah.....

You don't know what the battle even is, so it's not surprising that you're responding in this fashion.

Here is a hint. Few of the money people care about UAB football. Not even the rich Alumni. Most of the fans in seats got their tickets for free.

Sure..... Just like no one cared about FAU amirite? The point is simple: they simply shut the program down instead of trying to keep it. If money was really the problem, then why didn't they ask boosters for money?

If you had any historical perspective you'd know fau wasn't getting football unless they had huge support... You know the kind signing a coach with a national title under his belt brings.
