sort of an achilles heel? That's being way, way too overly generous.

A merely reasonably competent kicker and Bama wins the 'game of the century' in 2011 (4 missed FG, 3 by Foster) and the 2013 Iron Bowl (3 missed by Foster before the Kick-6). It would have also played a part in the Sugar Bowl loss (missed short FG right at the half).

Kicking woes have robbed Bama of an undefeated season one year and a SEC-W title (and thus possible NC game appearance) in another.

That's part of what's being held over Griffith's head. Any miss is judged by what's happened with Foster, but even playing hurt he's still kicking better than Cade and nailed a make or die kick at night in Baton Rouge. I really, really think he's got a chance to be right there with the likes of Leigh Tiffin and Philip Doyle.
