Meanwhile, if Auburn or USC gets Boom and we get someone else then the mood will be negative all offseason because we got our second choice while a team we play next season got our first choice. It doesn't matter if we still get a good or decent couch, Sumlin's regime so far is based on hype- the ultimate fake it till you make it- and such a rejection will certainly hurt Aggie fan confidence across the board. That is a environment we don't want the first season of our finished stadium.

I would submit that anyone who follows college football close enough to get excited or depressed over getting/losing Muschamp will be at the very least hopeful if we land someone like Venables, Narduzzi, Foster etc. Every one of them has an impressive resume. Every one of them will be able to keep our current defensive class together. All guys like Daylon Mack want is to be assured that the DC knows what he's doing. For all the other big name candidates, that's an easy case to prove.

And once we start seeing defensive improvement on the field, I think no one will give a damn if Muschamp was our first choice.

Maybe, as long as Boom doesn't go to another SEC team over us.

Best case if not us is he stays out of coaching for a year, or goes to a Michigan.
