Actually, Clemson typically has a slightly higher rated class than USC.

I get that there are some things working for Auburn, such as wife's preference, but if Muschamp really has ambitions of returning to the coaching ranks, is he really going to take an inferior career opportunity just for the sake of living in a familiar place for two years before leaving again? Because he's not going to get Malzahn's job anytime soon. If he really is thinking about looking to be a HC after a two-year stint as a DC, then his wife isn't going to be living in Auburn for very long.

If he thinks that A&M has better defensive talent on campus and coming in, then coupled w/ opportunity for a huuuge turnaround presented by our current dismal defensive ranking, a persuasive pitch can certainly be made.

That said, he isn't the only fish in the sea. Let's assume he's the best available, but he goes somewhere else. If we merely get a good DC, or even a DECENT DC, that will make an enormous difference. And with names like Venables, Narduzzi, Foster, even Randy Shannon floating around, we aren't SOL if Muschamp doesn't come to Aggieland.

I agree 100% he isn't the only option. He might not even be the best option, I think he is a little overrated.

With that said, I am ready for some positivity in Aggieland. I am ready for some sunshine. 59-0 put the entire community into a funk that can only be broken by a big DC hire and a highly ranked NSD class.

We get Boom, and in an instant the mood in CS will turn on a dime. Suddenly everyone will have real hope in Sumlin's regime again and the environment next season will be really exciting. I think at that point we could count on of the big uncommitteds to come our direction, as who wouldn't want to be part of the fun?

Meanwhile, if Auburn or USC gets Boom and we get someone else then the mood will be negative all offseason because we got our second choice while a team we play next season got our first choice. It doesn't matter if we still get a good or decent couch, Sumlin's regime so far is based on hype- the ultimate fake it till you make it- and such a rejection will certainly hurt Aggie fan confidence across the board. That is a environment we don't want the first season of our finished stadium.
