Obviously id rather us be undefeated and not have to depend on anyone else but that isn't the case.

Obviously we will never be undefeated under CMR and we will always have to back in

We have some modern UGA fans who are eaten up with envy of our neighbors who have gotten a few more breaks and won national championships in recent years. Richt could have two on his resume if he'd gotten a shot with his one or two loss teams in 2002 or 2007, and he was very close in 2012. LSU won their recent national championships with two losses and one loss, Florida had a loss both times under Meyer, Alabama had one loss in 2011 and 2012, Auburn had a loss in 2012 when they made it to the game. I suppose all of them backed because they weren't undefeated? And, by that logic, whatever SEC team wins the conference, and possible national, championship this year will have backed in too. Seems like a popular strategy for teams in this incredibly competitive football conference.

You make it sound so simple to go undefeated. I went back for a quick look at SEC champions for the last 65 years. Ten of those league champions had a perfect season record, and about half of those were Alabama. It's always been tough to get through the schedule without a blemish (or two or three as many conference champions have had). Vince Dooley did it his first time after 17 years at Georgia, and that was his only time.

The Mark Richt era is the golden era of UGA football, and he's done it under a disciplinary code that is quite foreign to most of our top competitors. Unfortunately some are seemingly ignorant of the facts of our team and conference history and take every opportunity to diminish or even ridicule Coach Richt's accomplishments. I have no empathy with people who can't enjoy (or apparently even recognize) success and try to drag everyone else down to their miserable level.
