You can take the Arkansas part out of the equation. The quitting part comes from the result of the Alabama game. The really bad part applies to the quarterback and the coaching staff's inability to identify, recruit and develop quality quarterbacks.

You can take all of LSU's national recruiting rankings every year and just light a fire with them until a quality QB comes along. Miles has had one quality QB recruit and he was an ex-Ga qb who spent time in the JUCO ranks.
