Agreed, I don't get the urge to talk shite to opposing fans when I attend games. I enjoy meeting new people and cheering for my team, but have little desire to shite talk, cuss, or flip off opposing fans unless it is on this board...

I never could do this even in college. I'd always feel awkward when a friend would do it.

I don't believe this. I've been going to Bama away games since the early 90s and have never (nor have I ever seen) anyone get spit on. Not to say, I haven't seen some obnoxious, vulgar treatment, but never anyone getting spit on. Much less 20+ times in one trip.

Looking back now it's kind of embarrassing, but like I said I'm out of that phase.

Not sure I said anything about yelling at random people walking by. I never yell at someone, unsolicited. It always starts out by someone taunting me and once I've reached my limit, I give it right back to them.

When we were in Athens last year, we met a group of UGA students on firday who invited us to their tailgate the next day where we were treated with free food and booze.

we met a nice old woman who let us park in her driveway for free, and she lived like 2 blocks off campus

after LSU lost, we went to eat and the bartender comp'd two of my beers.

Athens is awesome. anyone who got treated poorly there probably was being deserving of such treatment.

I don't know, I've been to Athens twice. Once during a loss and once during a win. Never treated poorly. Maybe it's because I make a point to avoid bar scenes as an away fan against a rival because drunk douches are going to be drunk douches.

With that said, walked around UGA's campus both times all day on gameday and only once did someone make some kind of passing "cock" comment and kept walking. We ran into some UGA students after SC's win in 2011 and they were more depressed about an 0-2 start than they were mad enough to try to start anything.

Another was in 2013, heading out of the stadium after UGA won and this drunk UGA student started yelling at us before her boyfriend quickly rushed in to apologize, we shook hands and chatted the rest of the way down.

One of our students was beaten to death by Georgia fans after the 05 game.

I did NOT understand why grown men were literally spitting at me on a regular basis. It was insane. I lost count at 20. I had more drinks thrown at me (although this time it was soda, as we were in the stadium).

To be honest you weren't specific in your post. All you said was you yell at opposing fans. That would include random as well...

I can say I have been to Athens MANY MANY times for many LSU/UGA sporting events.

I have never had anyone throw drinks at us at the bar or at the game, and I have never seen anyone spit on or try to spit on anyone.

This Barner needs to take a closer look at his own fan base first because the only place I have ever seen anyone spit on someone was when my wife and I were at Auburn for an LSU game.

Also don't be such a whiny little bitch. Geez grow some nuts you pussy!

Police tracked down the alleged attackers' taxi on Beach Boulevard near the Intracoastal Waterway. They took seven occupants into custody for questioning and then arrested and charged with murder Jeremy Alan Lane, 21; Jeffery Richard Groncziak, 19; Casey Michael Schuurman, 19; Mark Tyler Foss, 18; and Alex Samuel Canzano, 21. Four of the five men are from Jacksonville and the fifth is from Ponte Vedra Beach, Jefferson said.

Where exactly does it say that the attackers were Georgia fans?

This story pisses me off. Let me tell you about my time in Athens:

I was wandering the streets the Friday before the game. I stopped to light a cigarette and kept on walking. Suddenly, I realized I'd lit my hair on fire. I saw a crowd of UGA fans walking down the sidewalk on the opposite side of the street and started calling for help. Not a single one did. Let me reiterate: My. Hair. Was. On. Fire. And. They. Wouldn't. Cross. The. Street. To. Spit. On. It. So I raced into a nearby bar and yelled that my hair was on fire. Again, not a single UGA fan would waste even a few drops of their precious, precious beer by throwing a bottle at my head. I could clearly see several bottles were almost empty, but the UGA fans cared more about their beer than my burning hair. Luckily, a Vandy fan wandered in around that time and pissed on my head to put out the fire.

So you can imagine how much it pisses me off to see that an Auburn fan -- not even in the same division -- whose pants are on fire is treated better than a Vandy fan.

i have witnessed first hand at two auburn games in the late 90's and early 2000's auburn fans beating up two fans of other teams. One was a UT fan walking to his car alone and the other was a UF fan in the restroom. So AU fans. STFU and deal with it
