If I'm remembering it correctly it took a while before they finally offered the job to sumlin, and I believe the speculation was because they were trying to land a big name coach?

This shouldn't be interpreted as me wanting to get rid of sumlin. I was just thinking about this the other day, and I'm curious.

I thought it was Urban Meyer.

Richt Peterson and Gundy were the big names thrown around. Though I doubt any of them were realistic. Gundy might be realistic now though. And that should be interpreted as me wanting to get rid of Sumlin if next year is like this one

Wouldn't be surprised to see Gundy go to Florida.

That offensive scheme with Florida athletes is scary.

Funny how everyone's tune has gone from "2015 is the year" to "Sumlin may be fired"

The negativity in the locker room is just giving me all kinds of bad juju about where this is headed. It isn't our overall record, though the past two games have been a fricking joke.

Don't get me wrong the sentiment has backing, just kind of depressing. I was convinced of SEC domination...I no longer have any expectations, other than hoping we don't quit.

Amazing how Arkansas hasn't won an SEC game in 2 years, and I'm way more convinced of their 2015 season outlook than ours.

Absolutely. And it's scary because sumlin doesn't appear to understand this, or have an idea how to fix it.

Honestly, some Spurrier like comments from Sumlin would do be good.

"The team sucked today, and that's all on the coaches. I need to do a better job because we got whipped."

Not "that's a good team we just played."

Yeah. This partly why I started the thread. My dad mentioned they were thought to have tried to get richt, but I had never heard his name mentioned before. I'd heard peterson, but not richt.

There had been rumor Richt visited but that probably wasn't true. I think his agent just used us as a means for a big extension.

Also UGA fans complain about Richt but I would take him in a heartbeat

You aren't the only one. Hogs are just a handful of plays from beating A&M and Bama. They played Auburn tight for a half but that was early in the season. Auburn wants no part of this Hogs team at this point of the year. The 4 turnovers against UGA were a killer.

Hogs are a very physical team is a league that requires you to be physical, especially on the defensive side of the LOS. They are definitely heading in the right direction.

JFF aside, the most physical A&M team we had was our first year in the SEC. Excellent LOS play on both offense and defense.

Peterson was the name that was being rumbled about while everyone was complaining about how long the search was taking.
