IF they were playing prevent D, then Harris was even more successful because he TORCHED it
Yes, MSU's DBs played horrible prevent defense. The real problem with the prevent was it was just a 3 man rush....a 3 man rush with third stringers. Harris had all day to throw, and the DBs did a terrible job of coverage.

MSU ran all over LSU for most of the game even with conservative runs.
No, MSU was running the spread option, with misdirection, cutblocks, and option plays by Dak. At the end of the game, they were running straight handoffs, or QB keepers with no option.

LSU just happened to stuff them on 4th and 1 inside the LSU 5. If they were really being conservative, they would have kicked the FG, but they wanted the 1st down and the TD.
I guess you missed that Dak was the only starter in the game at that point. When MSU made a first down at the LSU 12, two LSU players got hurt (I don't think Day stepped on either of them). After the timeout, the entire second string offense came out, but with Dak at QB.
Mullen didn't want to try the FG, because a) MSU's kicking game sucks; b) He wanted to see what the second stringers could do; and c) he foolishly thought the game was over and was just trying to run out the clock.

State thought they had LSu beat. Let their guard down and even though they completely dominated the tigers all night were a hail mary away from losing. Pretty remarkable that was even possible.

MSU took the foot the gas and almost learned a lesson the hard way.
as an LSU fan I will be taking partial credit for their success going forward.
Also on deck Auburn we are going to need partial credit for your next win Saturday

Absolutely true. Mullen made a horrible mistake in thinking the game was over. I suspect the fact that LSU punted with only 6 minutes or so left in the game gave Mullen the impression Miles was waving the white flag.
Whatever the reason, it was the wrong attitude and Mullen has take all the blame for thinking he could ease up at that juncture.
The team no doubt followed his lead. Putting in the subs and calling for prevent D and the like, I suspect the players were just kind of going through the motion on the field and that's not just stupid, it can be dangerous to your health.

Riiiight. You obviously haven't been paying much attention to both teams.
Yes, yes I have. And I've seen Kentucky run right thru your defense like it wasn't there. And hat same offense couldn't get a first down against LSU.
Our defense is DRASTICALLY improved with injured players now contributing and the best MLB on our team finally getting the starts and improving us hugely.
Yes, he would be enough to stop many of those Dak runs...not all, Dak is damn good, but just "some" of the change the outcome of our contest.

There's still a handful of LSU fans here that think the 4th quarter of the game indicates how good LSU is.
I rarely see an LSU fan acknowledge that Mississippi State took their foot off the gas or that Mississippi State may have put in their backups.
So what really happened? Did Mississippi State pump the brakes and sub the backups? Or did LSU shut Mississippi State down and make a true game of it in the 4th quarter versus the same team that went up 24 points earlier?
who cares? that was a month ago. what matters is how we are playing now.
ftr, MSU beat the frick out us.........period

No thanks. I rise early.
You guys should not try and make LSU into what they are not. Its still a bad team this year with a bad QB situation.
I'm guessing you complained when auburn made it to the national championship, since they got wrecked by LSU early in the season. Auburn certainly could not have improved.

The game was much more out of hand then the score indicates. Make you feel better?
