It is. I went there earlier this year to try and pick up a new customer. Half of the down town was knocked down. I was scared to leave my vehicle unattended.

I've never heard Bessemer spoken of so fondly in all my life.
That said, the Bright Star Restaurant is pretty good if it's still around, but the entire city is terrible.

And Simmons Sporting Goods are the only reasons to be in Bessemer. Ever.

Go eat at The Bright Star. Best and oldest restaurant in the state.

Which is why I was there. I could not believe that fantastic store was in such a shite hole.
Unreal

I love Simmons. I wished they would open up a store on the other side of town. They're the State's Zoom dealer and do a lot of other wholesale to shops across the state. Used to order from them often when I worked for a buddy who had a tackle shop and when I worked at a gun shop. If they had a store in Trussville... it'd be so packed all the time.

Old steel and manufacturing city. Most of those jobs left, so most of the people who really wanted jobs left, as well. Still has a decent manufacturing base on a much smaller level, but the residential areas are generally very poor.
All I can suggest to you is the Bright Star. Haven't been there in a while, but the crab claws and the peanut butter pie used to be legendary.

Are you at the one in McCalla? If so, google says you're 9 miles away.

Bright Star is good but far from the best restaurant in the state.
