1) Mark Richt doesn’t just bench players

I agree with points 2-4 (especially 2-4), but I gotta slightly disagree here. Even if the black and white text I quoted is sorta accurate, there's far more to it than that. There is no precedent in the past 13 years for what we have now. Plus, richt HAS benched players.

-2001 was Richt's first year, so the QB comp was a clean slate for everybody. And although Phillips was a statmonster he was still nothing really special. It was basically starting from scratch and greene won.
-02-04 there was no reason to give Shockely more reps than he got. I mean Greene was absolutely perfect for what we were doing, and obviously he went 42-10 so you kinda want that guy to play. However, he DID still give DJ reps in big games to get his feet wet. So we have shown that we'll let someone come in if we really like the dude (which this year, we have not done [troy doesn't count]). Also of note is that Greene hurt his thumb against tech in 2004 and DJ stunk up the joint, so we brought greene back in to win. So Richt has shown that he'll yank someone if needed.
-2005 it was always DJ
-2006 we started Joe T because it was absolutely the right call. God reached down and afflicted his ankle in the 1st quarter of the second game so we had no choice but stafford. Stafford looked like horse shite, so we then yanked our future All Star for another freshman. Next week he sucked so we yanked him too. When JT was healthy he was back (rightfully so) and did pretty well against UT honestly, the defense not so much. When we ended up losing to vanderbilt, it was clear at that point we had nothing left to lose so we played stafford, as we should have. Let's also point out that stafford continued to suck arse until the AU game that year.
-07/08 obviously stafford
-09 Cox was the only option. Some people like to use hindsight by how good Murray eventually became, but 2013 murray wasn't going to be the same player as 2009 Murray. More importantly, he hurt his elbow in fall camp and couldn't even throw the football until October. We had no other options, plain and simple. You gonna burn murray's redshirt halfway through the year? Glad we didn't, or we wouldn't have had him last year.
-2010-2013 murray was the best we had, so we played him.

Which brings us to now. We have a 5th year senior, a promising freshman, and a seldom used soph. The senior is the only one with meaningful snaps (or starts). The soph hasn't played a single snap that meant something. The freshman has only played against a troy team we beat by 66, and he looked wildly inconsistent. There really hasn't been a situation similar to this one in the last 13 years. We're making the right call by playing mason. We'll beat vandy, but if we go on to lose to both missouri and arkansas...fine, play ramsey because why not? But as of now there simply is no point at all to bench him. We're trying to win games in 2014, not 2015. And I swear, I frickin SWEAR that if for some reason (let's say hm got injured next week) ramsey had to play a full game, yall would be begging for mason to come back.

You said it before, mason has lower highs but higher lows, which is fine for now considering our run game and improving defense. We don't need someone that can throw it 60 yards but also throws 3 picks.

I definitely could have framed that point better by saying richt also hasn't needed to and they've made the right QB most the time. The only time I ever disagreed was cox but having Murray RS was ultimately the right move. It's just also hard for me to not knock richt at least once
