You're a prisoner of your emotions. You sincerely want homosexuality to be a conscious choice so you can, in your mind, legitimately dislike them.

I don't legitimately dislike them. That's another ship mired in the Sargasso Sea of your logically-impaired arguments. My good friend who has now decided he is gay is still my good friend. He knows I don't agree with him and I still love him and his wife and kids. We text and talk regularly. He's no less a person than I am. He is just struggling with different things than I am. There's theological underpinnings to that whole discussion which I suspect are beyond both your ken and your care.

Have your other prejudices been taken away because of biological evidence?

I lol'd.

Your powers of reasoning are constipated but that doesn't mean you're dense. Just scary.

And as long as you're pumping out the pablum which passes for "conventional wisdom," I won't find you a bit scary.

I suspect you're living your life based on what you've been taught rather than what you've learned. Dogma can supplant knowledge for the entirety of a person's life if he lets it.

The person you call your good friend is a bisexual. In people who have black and white views of the world, as you've demonstrated, there's only homosexuality and heterosexuality.

A bisexual person is the only human who really has a choice regarding sexuality. Frequently, however, a bisexual will orient more strongly to same-sex feelings as he ages. This is most likely happening to your acquaintance.

Discussions with hardened theists are tiresome because of their lack of empathy. To see the world as it is requires us to "step into the shoes" of those who we regard as "different."

I grew up in a very religious household but my parents taught me that I have free will and the obligation, really, to understand other people's points of view.

Because we're different doesn't mean they're wrong. There's a very good chance that my own viewpoint could be misplaced or inaccurate. They taught me to "learn to learn."
