I think they're underestimating the Texas footprint.
The more time goes by with A&M being the top team in Texas, the more it will gain t-shirt fans (which equals viewers) in the state.
It's still early, but it seems like A&M is on a path to dethrone Texas as the most popular college team, and that equals $$$$$$$$$$$$$.

This was all foretold by the great prophet, Dr. Loftin.

and another tiger that is obsessed with a&m. just stop it. its just sad. we don't want a rivalry

They just don't look at the timeline.
In late 2008 ESPN signed a 15 year deal with the SEC that had NO NETWORK:

Now here we are in 2014 and the SEC has a network. What changed between now and then?
What changed was the SEC footprint grew by 50%.
Simply put, even with all their success in the field, without us the SEC would NOT be having success in the boardroom.
Heck given the low value of the CBS Tier 1 contract and that 2008 ESPN contract, it stands to reason that without us the ENTIRE SEC would make significantly less than the Big 10 this next decade.
You are welcome everyone.

I'll take a rivalry with LSU. The schools are close and both sides already hate each other, so why not?

Because they're creepy.
Didn't realize we'd need to bar the windows when we moved to this neighborhood

Its true.
Hell, without us the SEC wouldn't be making $20 million per team this season, which is what the B1G, PAC and Big 12 teams make.

The Aggies are like Microsoft trying to push Bing.
They REALLY believe, but nobody cares.

but really though. the next time you try to renovate your stadium and use that money you get from the network...youre welcome

I think our d willed them to importance.

Then tell me: Why didn't the SEC get a network in 2008 if the conference footprint COULD support it? The B1G had already proven the model could be a success by then.
I will tell you why: Because without ESPN backing it they would never start a network, and ESPN would only back one after A&M was added.
That is the obvious truth.

Agreed. LSU is the sinking ship of the SEC. Rats jump 1st. Look at all of those juniors that have left the last 2 years. Something is wrong. Les alienates. OP can eat a dick. Im sure he would prefer it.
