Saban is God's gift to college football, this I understand.
He was given a virtual pass on the single worst display of coaching ever witnessed.
I'm saying this in the context of the games enormity.
I'm an LSU fan, and most of my friends constantly badger Miles and blow Nick to the point of spewing gism all over my man cave.
Sickens me. They will regret the day Les no longer is at the helm, and never will give him credit.
Had Les made the junior high decisions Saban made in that game, It would be game over for my defense of Les.
But Nicky boy gets a pass. Ravings continue about how we are so blessed to live in the era that was able to see the greatest coach to ever make an x or an o.
He blew that game, plain and simple. He allowed the passion of the moment to dictate. His inability to reign in his own emotions cost Bama the game. The exact thing he coaches his players to not allow happen. He alone lost the game for Bama.
Did he take the blame? Uhh, google some of his post game quotes.
Also, if you forget ALL of the details that led to the self induced debacle, revisit it.
Signed,
He's good, but aint God

I'd Say a pretty good AU team had something to do with that game. People forget game was tied. Saban figured he could get a free kill shot at the end cause he didn't want to go to OT against malzahns offense. Even if kicker missed nick figures he still goes to OT.
Never figured on Chris Davis. I also think Malzahn doesn't get enough credit for calling time out and putting in the punt return team. That's great coaching.

Look, I was dog cursing Nick Saban for not kicking the game clinching FG ( XTRA POINT) at the 11 yard line. During his courtship with Texas I could of swore he didn't kick it ob purpose where he could take the Texas job earlier. Nothing else explains not winning the game with an basic xtra point at the 11. Mack just went back on his retirement. jmo.
That said, the coaching had nothing to do with the god awful refs in that game. If you actually rewatched you had to see the 20 horrible calls.
The game was a joke.

Agree with the horrific calls, also agree with a damn good Auburn squad having a lot to do with it.
Both points well taken and agreed with.
Still doesn't excuse "The St. Nick" from rescuing defeat from victory's jaws

He coached terrible games against LSU in 2010 and 2011 as well. The 2010 2nd half against Auburn would have buried lesser coaches.
Why does he get a pass? He's got 4 National Titles.

A true melt would have to include the entire fan base and some do not hold that opinion

The IB was one of those games that I disagreed with several decisions Nick made in that game, but it is what it is. He's not infallible.
But, it never gets old watching the emotional investment some of you LSU folks have in him. Getting all worked up about a game that didn't concern you.
The LSU Melt continues to entertain.

Why would we melt over a coach that couldn't beat UAB and Iowa?

I agree. However the daily melts by those that still carry the torch for Nick are glorious.
You must be one of those reasonable posters that doesn't think all Bama fans are batshit crazy just because of the actions of a few, eh?

Those people need to appreciate the idiot genius we have

I love Les. He's great for the conference. Good HC.

I was honestly glad when he left.
Horrible personality.

A lot of Bama fans agree with you. In fact, I made a 8 page thread a couple days after the lose claiming Nick was the main reason we lost that game. Some agreed. Some didn't. It is true though. Worst called game by Saban I've ever seen.
