What say you rant?

I really didn't know what to expect because I was not for Kiffin's hire but I'd call the offense a mild success.

Over 550 yards of offense. One receiver over 125 yards. Two 100 yard ball carriers. A 250 years passing performance by a new QB. He settled Blake Sims down a lot after the first drive or two. Didn't get cra-cra after his one pick.

Now the defense needs some serious help. I'm thankful we don't have A&M early this year - they would score 50 on us. Hopefully we can get some young guys ready to go/get some guys back from injury/suspension soon. The LBers looked horrible, getting players in the wrong plays, etc. The DBs (well, Sylve more than anyone) is not ready for big time football.

When did West Virginia get a defense?

Let me know how Sims does against Florida.

Kiffin called a really good game. Only two or three calls were bad. Some plays we just didn't execute. But man I love what he's done. He fed our playmakers (Coop, White, Yeldon, Henry) and we showed a few new looks.

That was only like 15-20% of the O, I imagine. As he continues to install, it'll only get better. We had over 500 yards on O despite losing the TO battle, having more penalties, a new QB, our #2 WR getting hurt in the 3rd quarter, two new OL, and a true Freshmen LT.

they passed too much, should have just let the stable of backs do damage. lsu had the same issue until the second half.

We need Eddie Jackson and Tony Brown on corner.

Saban was on his nuts practically the whole game. But overall he did have a decent playcalling day. Your backs are going to give us all fits this year.

I wouldn't hang your hat on such good stats - it was WVU afterall, but they started to gel toward the end so that is a positive

Don't sleep on Kiffin. The guy is legit. He will have this offense humming. Cooper and the running backs will all put up filthy numbers.

Kiffin has a great offensive mind. He was a great hire for Bama.

Agree. WVU look much improved. I understand that Bama lost a lot of defense but you are not helping your DB's by playing a soft zone giving way too much cushion on receivers.

Some of the defense things are overreaction.

Reuben/Ragland were first year starters and not ready to make calls for the defense, so the defense looked a little lost. Should improve when Depriest comes back. Our defense would have given up less yards if Eddie Jackson was healthy, but I agree with the decision to keep him out until there is no doubt.

I agree with some of the criticisms of our offense. Sims will not be able to do what he did against WVU when facing better defenses. If he can't prove that the defense needs to respect the deep threat then we are in for a long year.

He called a good game, but ESPN's love fest of him is annoying.

The whole "Kiffin cam" they had going was nauseating.

I think a more appropriate term would be "a very minor success".

WVU picked close to last in Big 12 and despite the score on Saturday they are going to finish the season close to last with probably 3 or 4 total wins. They really suck on D.

Maybe without Kiffin you don't score but 31?? WVU defensive line not close in talent level to Bama d line. I was not impressed at all.

Blake Sims looked pretty nervous so maybe that was part of it?
