I'm thinking you've never visited Lubbock if you think ANY Bears are "violently obsessed". I get that I've been away for a long while, but I have many Baylor friends. None from Tech though I grew up with them... because they all became insane.

Nah, I've been to Lubbock. It was a bad experience. They acted like animals.

I'm not talking about gameday in their respective towns though, I'm talking about everyday life in Texas.

Tech Tards generally don't have massive delusions about who they are in the football landscape. They more or less know they are Tech, and it is what it is. Sure, they are FANS, so they're not objective, but they're not Baylor-delusional.

Baylor folk really believe that Baylor is one of the crown jewels of football and that they are a program on national renown. Whereas a Tech graduate, outside of Lubbock - so in a business setting or a casual setting - isn't going to make much of anything about A&M, aside from the usual good-natured football talk, Baylor fans become visibly upset at the mention of A&M or the presence of an Aggie.

Tech was way nastier in terms of the actual gameday, but Baylor takes it personally for LIFE.

Agree with all this. It's very odd.

I had universally encountered only the above baylorites until moving to my new house. My cul-de-sac has an Aggie family (us), Baylorites, Clemson/ISU, Oklahoma State, another aggie (t-shirt fan... from alabama), and a UF fan. We do improptu block parties in the street every weekend, and we all get along pretty well when it comes to football. The Baylorites (attended but did not graduate) seem to have no issue with A&M, and their oldest daughter (about 14?) openly expresses that she wants to go to A&M. I've never seen anything like it.

There is a very very obvious reason for this.

Tech fans have always been and will always be Tech fans. Even in the down years they stick to their team, which gives them that real world humility. Some even respect us a little as the other brand that is not tu.

Meanwhile Baylor fans get in line with all the Texas State grads to be T-shirt sips when their team sucks. Seeing as how Baylor sucked most of their life it means they were Texas fans longer than they were Baylor fans, and all those years of wearing orange rubbed off.
