I don't really get the optimism either. Pretty sure everyone in this thread (along with anyone who's watched Bama bball the last few years) thinks CAG is a bad coach. Even if the newcomers turn out to be good, I doubt they'll be good enough to overcome poor coaching. Hope I'm wrong though.

I'm with you. I'm not sure how anyone could be expecting us to do well this season. I hope I'm wrong.

ETA: Hopefully the fire grant thread will get unanchored for the season.

I don't think Grant is a bad coach, I just think he is an overpaid coach. Grant's biggest problem to me isn't even the coaching either, it's been the lack of talent and depth. I don't see the talent being the issue this year, hence the optimism.

I can't speak for the others, but my issue was with this statement

Bama will be better than last season, and will certainly not lose several more games than last year. That's as optimistic as I can be for now, but do believe we have some upside to get in the tourney.
