and Antonio Langham. (JPW is John Parker Wilson, fwiw). Pretty cool of these guys, especially Humphrey. A guy at our church who is big Alabama fan has known Humphrey for 25+ yrs or so and asked him to do this about 5-6 yrs ago.
We have all of the youth come to the old Berry HS field and play touch football with these guys.Cox is the first AU guy we've had. Other SEC folks like me wear their colors and its a lot of fun.
When we got back to the gym at the church they each got up and spoke and testified. As you can imagine every female 6 to about 40 for Auburn wanted their pic/selfie with Cox and the ones for Ala with JPW, and of course some with Hump and Langum.Everyone of them patiently obliged.
In that our church maybe one of the few,if only OTM church in metro Birmingham that may have more Auburn fans, it was really neat how JPW and Langham signed autographs on orange construction paper for little boys and girls in Auburn shirts and wrote WAR EAGLE then signed.
And,yes,Humphrey made mention of his past. He's a big man,in lots of ways. Heckuva of a guy, two. He and I talked about the LSU-Ala games he played in and how even then they always looked forward to the LSU game and vice versa.
I'm sure there are several similar events like this throughout the SE and elsewhere, but I was at this one and I wanted to brag on Humphrey for agreeing to this and bringing the other guys.

Humphrey's a solid guy and did some great things for Bama as did Wilson and Cox for their respective schools.
Here's to hoping Humphrey's flesh and blood will be giving QBs nightmares for years to come

Cox was a tough dude.
He would get smoked in those epic LSU-AUBURN games when Tubbs was there and would get back up and keep trucking.
I always had respect for Cox.
Those mid 2000's LSU-AUBURN games were incredible.

Good stuff. Always thought JPW was a jerk but hopefully age is growing him up.

I did, too. But he couldn't have been nicer and more pleasant. Remember,he's having to throw passes to 14 yr old girls on some plays. He even corrected Humphrey afterwards about having "retired from the NFL". JPW said he as 'fired from the NFL.'
I really think today's JPW is alright.

Hope you didn't bring up his fumble on the goal line that cost us the game one year.

No,but he did. At least the year. I had just bragged on him about him running all over us in '87. He said they probably should have lost that one but won the year earlier. I just nodded and didn't say boo about his fumble at the goal line and later at the 30.

2004-2008 were some of the best games EVER.

don't know about JPW, but Langham is a really cool down to earth guy.

CSB in the most legit way possible. Sounded like a great time for the kids and you.

Did you talk about the 2006 refs with Cox?

Knew him in middle school and he was a great kid. About 11th grade there was a change. Glad to hear he seems to have changed back.

I don't think you "fire" interns so much as just just don't invite them back again.

Bobby Humphrey is about as quality of a man as you will ever meet. When kids were stuck at school in Birmingham during the snow, he was out most of the night with chains on his Tahoe taking kids home.

Good grief. The guy was making a joke at his own expense.
