Is this the year we constantly put up 50+ points on decent opponents?

We have a super talented offense, but we've had the ability to score in the past.
With the whole CFB Playoff system coming in, do you think Coach Saban finally decides its worthwhile to go Oregon on people? You know Kiffy wants to.

No. Too many questions at oline and qb.

No.

We can, and should, but Saban won't.

This. Unlike Oregon and Baylor, we know that we will receive the benefit of doubt for playing the SEC. Teams that don't receive that (earned) bump need to do extra to impress lest they get left out.

True, but the letting up in the fourth breeds complacency. You can't preach to 85 guys that every play matters and will be treated like you're losing, but then when you're up 42-0 in the fourth you go into drain the clock mode. I'd be fine with it if it didn't completely contradict the battle against complacency.

By letting up do you mean running the clock? Second and third stringers still go hard and want to score-- Henry's last minute touchdown against Arky comes to mind.

I mean not letting the backup QB get real experience by limiting the playbook. Would have been nice to see Sims being allowed to treat it like he needed to score and not like he just needed to play until the clock hit 0.

And IIRC, Saban looked pissed when Henry broke that run. I'm ALL for sportsmanship, but I would like to see the garbage time QB throw it more and run the offense as usual, instead of just grinding out the clock.

What would be the prevailing feeling if Alabama in the near future, put triple digits on a ranked opponent, heck, make it an SEC opponent too.

That Bama has a great offense, I'd imagine.

Could you imagine doing that to Auburn and LSU? The melt would be glorious.

No.

Saban hasn't recruited the type defensive players to play that style of defense. You don't want your defense on the field more than your offense.

I like the pound it down the opponents throat run offense that IMO Bama got away from a little last year. IMO due to the talent at WR and AJ being such a good passer.

I hope we go back to a more run first offense but still very balanced with a two or three headed monster and a very stingy but disciplined defense.

Personally, I'd rather Coach Saban finally decide it's worthwhile to go Bear Bryant on people and play his second string QB about every third series come hell or high water. That's why, in 1979 after having lost our starting QB (J. Rutledge) to graduation, we still had a veteran QB (S. Shealy) returning who had gotten significant meaningful game experience the previous two years.

And I don't think it's a coincidence that 1979 was the only perfect season we had between 1966 and 1992.

And if Saban did that, we still might get 50+ in some games.

We could've done that against AU in 2012.

I'm still waiting on Coach Saban publically apologize for not scoring 50 on them....

I'd be all for that against shitty OOC opponents. There's something to be said about getting back- ups experience but there's also something to be said about playing your best players against tough competition.
