The trip up to Arlington was great, but there is no way in hell that Jerry's World has a better fan experience than BDS or Jordan Hare. I agree with most of your points as far as a national exposure, but I can't agree with what you've said there.

Can't agree here either. I would think many fans outside the SEC would love to come and visit a new campus and get to feel the whole vibe around campus. As a college football fan and a person who loves city seeing, I love traveling to different campuses and seeing a whole town thrive off of its university. The best thing to me is experiencing gameday there, seeing 100k-200k+ rapid fans get up for a game, and then seeing and learning new interesting stuff about the opposing university. A trip to Arlington is great and interacting with the other fans is fun, but there's nothing like traveling to an opposing teams stadium. The atmosphere, the campus, the women, and a variety of different foods really is what I look for in my trips.

'm pretty sure the vast majority of USC fans don't give a frick how nice Bama's campus is or care much about the "tailgating experience" or visiting BDS.

I'm sure Jacobs had revenge on his mind, and wanted to give Gus the opportunity to get the upper hand for the two more recent losses to CU. And he probably wanted to give the AU another good home game in '16.
quote:Didn't know Jacobs had polled the fanbase. This makes better sense now - Just giving the fans what they want. Can't knock him for that.
I have a feeling Jacobs was thinking the fanbase wants to restore the old rivalries and Clemson is the easiest one. All the surveys and such they have given, give me that opinion

You gotta understand-these are API fans. They really don't know what they want till Bama decides what they want-then they go 180 degrees in the opposite direction. That's what they call an original postion.

We hadn't played them regularly since 1971. Hard to think of them as any kind of rival.
UGA - Clemson makes more sense than AU - Clemson IMO.

I don't know? Does AU Admin approach other programs like UCLA-NDame-OSU-PSU-USC-VaTech?
It's evident that games with high-profile teams were available. i.e. aTm/UCLA, LSU/Wisky, UA/USC, UGA/ND

Auburn has tried to schedule games with Michigan and Notre Dame in recent years. There is no reason for them to play Auburn. We don't carry the political clout of the state named schools.
Any insinuation that a AD would schedule a game for revenge from two losses in what turned out to be the biggest dumpster fire in the programs history is absurd.
I believe Auburn and Clemson need each other. They have the same disadvantages and playing each other offers a similar upside.

not really as it was illogical in comparison
Good God Man!!!....illogical? how so?
You're projecting your personal preference for the college campus experience into this analysis. If big name OOC programs are going to play Bama or Auburn, then the experience would have to benefit them as well. Sure big names like USC or Michigan will take the game but it has to be a reasonably attractive proposition to draw a larger number of their fans and not the hard core who would be willing to endure traveling to college towns in Alabama to see their team.

The melt from losing to API is still strong in you.

Traveling to away stadiums you don't need to attract a large contingent at all. I think you are over thinking this.

No its not.
You fly to Atl...drive an hour to Auburn.
You fly to BHam, you drive 45 minutes to Ttown.
You fly to Dallas, you drive 45 minutes to Arlington.

So its harder for bama fans to go to a game in tusculosa in comparison to Dallas?

Okay, that, then my personal opinion is on par with the vast majority of college football fans.

Yes you do
Not sure where you are coming up with this, all you need to do is attract roughly the same amount that go to any away game.

*Major Facepalm*
Are you really going to argue its easier to go to Auburn or Ttown than Dallas?
By the way, are you Auburn fans looking forward to that trip to the other Manhattan? Bet Dallas looks pretty appealing in comparison? Let's see how well AU fans travel for that one

It is just as easy to get to Arlington as it is to Auburn and Ttown from the airports you would land in.

Thursday night in the middle of nowhere...solid comparison.
