I still find it extremely hard to believe that he's our best option. He's not any good. Would easily be our worst #1 QB in 20+ years.

As do I.

However, he has a few things going for him.

#1 with the limited action we have seen thus far, he throws the ball better than most (so far)

#2 He has more knowledge of the playbook than the others

#3 He has paid his dues by waiting it out behind AJ

Now while none of those translates to being the best option, unless someone is CLEARLY a better option, Sims will most definitely get the nod against WV.

What worries me the most is that he seems to be a practice player, and when the lights come on, his turn off. Bad throws/reads etc..
If he gets unseated in a game, it may be after some ugly picks, that could be costly.

Imo. Bateman will be our QB at the end of the day. Something tells me he'll "get it" at some point this year. And I think he has some tools that will surprise us. JMO of course.

I'm not sold on Bateman being ready for the speed of the SEC. He looks a little stiff going through his progressions sometimes. I think he needs more time to "get out of his head" and just play. I like what I see so far but I think he still has to make some strides and get some confidence. It would be great if we could get him some game experience early in the year.
