This X 10000. When Bama wins (and they win a lot) it's probably a paradox of emotions for a lot of their true fans, alums, etc. Happy to get the win but cringe-worthy waiting for the redneck shoe to drop somewhere in a trailerpark.
A friend of mine's parents are both Alabama grads. His dad got transferred to a plant here 30+ years ago. I was talking to one of them after Updyke and he was embarrassed. He later told me it was crushing to him, and he felt like he didn't even know how to keep cheering for his university.
For the rational Bama fans, I feel for you. Every season at some point, it has to get a little weird.
