This mindset of "Yeah, but you lose x" is the most short-sighted, ludicrous, over-played argument on this board.
It's as if some people just started following football 3 months ago.

You can make the argument if you acknowledge that your team also lost key players. Usually people (like the guy I was responding to) only look at what their opponents lost.

I agree with this. You gotta look at the overall shape of the program ... depth, stability, cohesiveness of the staff, recruiting, etc.

You can usually look two or three years ahead for most programs and make educated guesses at trends.

Everyone saw UT's decline happening under Hamilton. They've bottomed-out and have nowhere to go but up.

Bama is a good bet to stay solid for awhile. Same could be said for LSU and UGA.

SCAR and A&M are trending upwards with Spurrier and Sumlin and their recruiting and building projects going-on.

Ole Miss is teetering on an ascent. Their future really rides on the next couple of seasons.

Florida will not be down for long. They will not tolerate it. Spurrier permanently raised expectations there just as he is doing at SCAR right now.

Miss State has always been what they are right now. They are consistently good, rarely great if ever.

Kentucky is hard to gauge right now.

Arkansas is in deep trouble right now.

Mizzou ... they need to capitalize on last year, his year. They just need to finish in the top half of the East and sign a Top 25 class. And they have to keep their losses close this season.

Auburn is probably the most under appreciated program in the conference compared to what they have accomplished. They are always going to find s way to bat .800 every decade for awhile.

It's not difficult to project-out a little ways ... but to try to predict one session not knowing depth and chemistry and staff stability questions is just an effort in futility.

IMHO every year every program has a chance for a miracle session in this league, but that's more about believing and lucky breaks and momentum than it is anything else. Along with favorable.scheduling, fortunate circumstances, etc.
