Saban's reputation still hasn't recovered from the move from Miami. If he left UA after all of the denials, he'd have no goodwill left and probably lose a lot of trust on the recruiting trail.

Is Saban really just waiting around until Spurrier retires to see if he can come to SC and do what Spurrier has yet to do?

That seems to be the rumor that I'm starting now.

$100 million is meaningless to a man of integrity like Saban.

If true, he will regret it soon.

Doesn't one actually have to be offered a contract in order to turn it down?

Saban is in a place financially now that the money really doesn't matter to him.

I've heard stories from some former players and others at Alabama that say he bitches about making all that money for his wife and family and all she buys him for Xmas are those fricking stupid looking socks.

He can make more money selling candy corn to his faithful and promoting...the NFL in college...racism, cutting kids and dropping them from scholies. Real world education at Bama.

I would think Saban's wife would definitely influence him to take a 100 million payout (if this is true), but that Texas job would not be easy, Mack Brown has turned that program to shite. One thing I will miss about Mack Brown, has to do w/ the Longhorn fanbase. They are by far the damn funniest posters on the various meltdown forums, etc. I've never laughed out loud reading any angry posts from any other fanbase other than the Texas fans. Those rants are as golden as Mack Brown's teeth.

Saban made a good decision. Likely worked out well for all concerned. Texas is a tough place to coach though. I don't envy Charlie Strong.
