If Georgia fans have brought this up, it is just more proof of the ignorance of their fans. Who cares about 10 wins seasons? Auburn has as many or more SEC and national championships in the last 5 years as Georgia has in the last 30 years
It's a coping mechanism for them to assure themselves that surely Auburn can't be good again!!'

Georgia should not be in this discussion
They are not top 5
They are not top 5

Auburn is arguably the best team in the sec the past 30 years or since 1981 when Dye arrived.
Absolutely a top 4 team in SEC during that time, but I'd love to hear the case for them to be the #1 team in SEC during that time. Can't make that case for AU over Florida or Bama, IMO.
The most stunning thing for me about AU is that they've not had back-to-back 10 win seasons since 1988 & 1989. That's a quarter of a century.
No one currently playing football for AU was ALIVE the last time the team had back-to-back 10 win seasons. That's shocking for a team with as much history & tradition as AU. Likely changes this year though.

It's a crazy stat, but you're right it would require a wildly disappointing season for them to have 4 losses this year. The melt would be fun to watch, but I would be left scratching my head wondering what the hell just happened if they go 9-4 or worse.

Think I could make the case against bama. More undefeated seasons, more sec titles, and I think more sec wins.
All while playing a vastly more difficult schedule than bama since 1981.
You would have to add up sec wins though. If it is even close, AU has definitely been better since 1981.

Melvin Ray was born in April of 1989.

I really would put AU as a 10-13 point favorite over bama in week 1.
In Tuscaloosa? I don't know about that.
I know we don't really want the Iron Bowl week one.
I'm just damn excited

Yeah, even in Tuscaloosa. Bama hasn't exactly been world beaters in Tuscaloosa.
But 90% of the reason is the difference in starting points this year for each team. I really think AU wants to get the bad taste of how last year ended out. And with almost our entire offense returning, we should be in midseason form on the offensive side of the ball early on.
Bama is the opposite and will be tougher later on when their Oline and Coker get more experience.
So I really think if it was week 1 Bamas offense would struglle, make mistakes, turn the ball over and give AU some short fields and yeah, AU would jump all over bama with a quickness and go up by several scores if it was week 1.
AU was probably 25 points better as a team in week 12 vs week 1 last year. Hell, maybe more.

Oh, hell no, I haven't forgotten. I didn't say AU would lose, I was just saying it would be tough for AU to roll into T-town week one and win by multiple TD's.

Yeah you guys are going to be a juggernaut.
Bama will have to lean on
it's D for at least the first 3-4 weeks.
By November when we dance, it may be a bloodbath.
I can't wait.

This fact, and $0.75, will get you a coke in the break room.

All bets are off by Nov. AU isn't going to be improving exponentially through the year like last year. If I'm right and AU comes out firing hard and rolls up some blowouts I'll be worried about them thinking they are better than they are.
Bama will likely be like AU last year and improve each week.

If we're lucky. I suspect both teams will come in with a 2013 ranking, poised for the playoff.
It's going to be one hell of a fight and show.
Maybe we can get it right and do it twice this year..
Once in Tuscaloosa and again in the Rose...
Anybody who is doubting Bama or AU in 2014 is crazy.
Or jealous.

I'd say it's AU, LSU and UGA in a street fight for third.
It's LSU or UGA for 3rd.
LSU beats Auburn in wins, bowl appearances, major bowl appearances, top 25 finishes, top 10 finishes, head to head, first round draft picks, overall draft picks, SEC Championships and National Championships.
It's pretty clear that no matter how you stack it, LSU has the better program.

Before $aban got to Bama, he averaged at least 4 losses per year. Shite changes...
And it's funny you bring up the 88-89 seasons, because I think Malzahn will prove to be the best coach AU has had since Dye by a wide margin.

Well shite, if that's true,
then you're absolutely correct.
Can't really argue with you.
Okay, I'll say AU is 4th then UGA 5th.
Florida is 6th because they were not really good until 1990.

No, not even "arguably." Three other SEC teams have multiple national championships during that time. AU has won one.
