I could see him starting for Arkansas, Vandy, State, or Kentucky.
Absolutely. Nick Marshall is light years ahead of their shitty quarterbacks (aside from Mississippi State - Dak Prescott is the real deal).

LSU
Why couldn't he start at LSU? What do they have that's better than him?

Tennessee.
He couldn't start over Justin Worley? The same guy that has more interceptions than touchdowns in his career? The same guy with a career pass completion percentage around 56%?

He couldn't start over Josh Dobbs? The same Josh Dobbs with 3 x's as many interceptions as touchdowns?

Maxwell Smith is literally about 4th on the depth chart at Kentucky. Was basically fifth until Jalen Whitlow transferred.

Brandon Harris would be competing for the starting job in College Station if Kyle Allen didn't choose to play for the good guys. I don't think Sumlin would give Nick Marshall a look at QB.

Maybe he could. I'm not actually that confident in that one. I'll remove UT from the not starting list.
