Bama 2011

Held 8 opponents to a touchdown or less. Shut out 3.

Didn't give up more than 14 points to an SEC school all year.

Allowed 21 points only once.

Largely considered one of the top 5 defenses to ever play the game.

Average margin of victory of 27 points.

Of the 22 starters, 11 went on to become first round draft picks.

Meh.

And those numbers are all clearly skewed by the crappy competition you faced that year, am I right?

Bama faced a whopping 2 offenses that were inside the top 70 in scoring offense in 2011, and one of those was LSU. Your defense didn't face anyone that year that could be considered a really good offense outside of Arkie, and you got them early before Tyler Wilson had even settled in as a starter.

Auburn at least faced 5 top 50 offenses in 2004, which is more than I can say for 2011 Bama. And we held all of those offenses but Arkie under 14 points (and Tenn in a rematch after we let off the gas).

Trying to use schedules as a reason to discount a team is dumb as hell period, but doing so when your own championship teams have had crazy easy schedules is just beyond silly.

1995 Nebraska had a crazy easy schedule, doesn't stop them from being one of the best teams of all time.

Lost.

At home.

To Jordan Jefferson.

Without scoring a Touchdown.

As others have mentioned, the list doesn't go up to 2011.

Also, I find Bama fans who insult 2011 LSU hysterical. Half of the case (The other half being how dominant they were against weaker competition/number of draft choices) for that 2011 Bama team being one of the all time greats was their victory over 2011 LSU, who at the time had arguably the most impressive resume ever.

You guys should be defending 2011 LSU more than LSU fans do.

...lost at LSU
...didn't win the SEC or even the SECW
...only team to ever get a rematch for the BCSNCG
...required other teams choking at the very end of the season
