but I feel like Miles was stubbornly wedded to Jefferson when it became painfully obvious at some point in the 2009 season that he needed to be pulled at many times. I was ecstatic when he got suspended from the team going into the 2011 season. No way LSU goes undefeated in 2011 with Jefferson running the show. I was all in for Lee starting going into the 2011 season, personally, and I think the results bore out that he deserved the spot over Jefferson, but he'd have never gotten it had it not been for JJ's off the field issues.

JJ had the best first year start for a non senior LSU QB since Tommy Hodson. He also did it with a horrible offensive line, and a run game that accumulated 1503 yards and 14 TDs total. In 12 games he had nearly 2200 passing yards, 170 rushing yards, and 18 total TDs with only 7 picks. He was the #2 QB in the Redzone in the nation and had a 61.5 cmp percentage.

You definitely don't know what you are talking about. At best in 2011, Lee managed the game. Total offense rose the second Jefferson got meaningful snaps during games. We could not run or pass the first half against UGA, you are placing that blame solely on Jefferson? In case you forgot, the two bad games he had were against the #3 and #1 ranked defenses in the nation. We wore UGA down in the second half, but we could not do it against Bama. Lee would have looked just like he did in 2008, 2009, and 2011 against Bama, very bad.

2009 was easily his best season. I stated that it was evident at points even in that season that he wasn't going to be the answer for LSU. I'm sorry that you don't agree, but his performance in 2010 corroborated that. I get that LSU's fanbase was torn between who to start and you liked Jefferson over Lee. I didn't. That's not to say he never had games where he played well.

So Lee effectively ran the offense is what you are saying? Go back and watch some of those games and watch Lee make nice throws, nice reads, ball fakes, protect the ball, etc. Our offense was efficient and unpredictable because the play action pass was killer with Lee and the more pro-style look. Jefferson made shitty reads and had poor passing mechanics. I don't discount his contribution to the team, but I much preferred how our offense looked in 2011 under Lee than it ever did under Jefferson.

Jefferson looked like shite against UGA. Feel free to argue against that if you wish and make yourself look silly. I blame Les and Jefferson equally because Jefferson being in the game changed the offensive gameplan, and that is coaching's fault.

Oh please. Jefferson looked like absolute shite in that championship game. Lee deserved to be pulled out of the Bama game earlier in the year and we needed Jefferson in that game. Likewise, the same should have happened on 1/9, but for some reason Jefferson never got pulled. Miles had an affinity for Jefferson over Lee and I think it was to a detriment many times.

Being a game manager is not a bad thing. LSU won two national titles with guys that people said "managed the game" (Mauck + Flynn). Lee threw a TD in the first 8 games he started (with two 3 TD games in there) and had 13 TDs and 1 Int. going into the Bama game. He had more 100+ yard passing games in 8 starts than what Jefferson had in 13 starts in 2010. A QB can have a bad outing.

JJ had less than 100 total yards in two games combined against UGA and Bama. Was that good?

It's not good to assume Lee would have just been terrible. If assumptions were always accurate, then you would have listed 2010 as a terrible year for Lee against Bama as well. I remember people thinking/assuming JJ would suck against Bama in previous years as well. Things panned out differently though.

Both players had value to the team at times and a championship game was not a good time to forget that.
