Yeah, I'm sure there's reasons for it. It just seems like a lot of the reasons to keep people in (whether they be terrorists or anyone else) seems to support it.
If it means anything, only the airports near railroads (that I've noticed) have it. McCarran especially have had the V type barbed wire things added. For example, San Juan Luis Munoz Airport (on an island, no railroad) still only has outward facing barbed wire last time I was there in 2012. It seems the security issues would be the same there if the real issue was keeping the terrorists in.

C'mon! Come up with a scenario where railroads mean anything! What possible difference does a railroad make?
