I'm doing any and everything to not clean my house right now so here we go. There will be plenty of talk about roundball sports but I want to talk about the sport that really tickles my fancy.

Boise State went 8-5 last season, which was disappointing by the standard that had been set. People give Boise a lot of shite but few programs have been as consistently solid as the Broncos over the last decade. Chris Petersen surprisingly left to go to Washington and Bryan Harsin takes over. Bryan Harsin was the OC for Boise from 2006 to 2011 and during this span, helped lead Boise State to an amazing 61-5 record. He then spent 2011 and 2012 as the Co-OC and QB coach at Texas where shite sucked but they still beat the shite out of us. Being a smart man, he bolted the sinking ship at Texas for Arkansas State, where he replaced Gus Malzahn as HC. In his only year as a HC, Harsin led ASU to a 7-5 record.

At the QB position, Boise loses their QB Joe Southwick who started 8 games last year and went 6-2. Southwick broke his ankle and was replaced by RS-JR Grant Hedrick, who is going to be the man the Rebels will see under center as a RS-SR. Hedrick was efficient last year, completing 69% of his passes for 16 touchdowns to 5 interceptions. Hedrick was also 2nd on the team in rushing with 277 yards and 4.8 ypc. Despite this, Boise 2-3 with Hedrick as a starter. Their back-ups are a JUCO transfer and RS-FR who obviously haven't played D1 ball.

They return all of their RBs, headlined by JR Jay Ajayi. Ajayi ran for 1,425 yards and 17 tds, for 5.8 ypc. The 2nd leading RB tore his ACL and left the program in December. No one else of note although SR Derrick Thomas emerged as a big time back during their spring practices.

At WR, Boise only returns 2 of their top 5 but it's the top two and a lot of production. SR Matt Miller caught 88 passes for 1140 (12.95 ypc) and 12 TDs last year while JR Shane Williams Rhodes caught 77 for 702 and 6 TDs (From the slot from what I can gather) They played 3 different tight ends and none produced much in the passing game.

Boise lost 3 starters on the O-line last year, and only one of the two returning was a full time. Marcus Henry started all games at RG and is moving to center for his JR year. Rees Odhiambo started 8 games at right tackle and is projected to move to LT.

Offensively: I think Boise could give the Rebs trouble, especially since we struggle with dual-threats, but I think their lack of experience on the O-line weighs heavily in our favor and I see a really nice advantage.

On the defensive line, they return only 1 starter and really, it's two different guys that started the same position. They're replacing both DEs and a DT.

Boise brings back 4 guys that started at least 6 games at a LB spot last year so they have some experience and a little depth here. I believe they play a similar defense to us and only use 2 LBs.

They return the entire secondary, for better or worse. Boise ranked 88th in the country in pass defense, so while I expect them to be better, I don't expect them to be good.

Lack of experience on the D-line and a lack of playmakers in the secondary favors us heavily again.

The kicker was 17/19 last year. They have a new punter.

I see a competitive game for a half with Ole Miss pulling away towards the end. 41-21 Ole Miss.

Good, that wasted some time. Gonna go clean now.

Peterson had offers to leave Boise for years and always turned them down until this year. I think it was the combination of a good regional job and the fact that he knew this would be a rebuilding year. New staff in their first game, far away from home, hostile environment....Rebs win by two touchdowns.

What does everyone expect Robert Nkemdiche to do this season?

Robert didn't really get any help from the DE's last year after CJ and Carlos got hurt (no offense John Youngblood.) Robert was double teamed from then on. This year he finally has some help pass rushing on the ends with Fadol Brown eligible and CJ being healthy! Carlos Thompson is a really solid #2 guy to rotate in and Marquis Haynes is going to be really special when Paul Jackson puts some weight on him. Marquis might even have an immediate impact with the dual threat quarterback problem we've been having.

With those guys on the outside he could be really really special! Countless times last year Robert was double teamed because of the lack of talent we had on the outside. When the DE's start getting into the backfield its going to really open up Roberts game.

I'm expecting an all American year from Robert if he can keep his eye on the prize and stay away from his brother.

and Gross, Bennett, and Hooks (if he's not playing guard--such a weird career. I thought he was gonna blow up when we got him)

I'm expecting big things from the entire defense this year. Couple the front 4 with an above average secondary, and we should do better in the turnover margin this year.

Ajayi is a beast and a big back. Our LBs will need to step up bc Mike Marry (despite his other limitations) was a good run-stuffer.

I think DTShack will be a more than competent replacement for Mike. Shack really started to roll at the end of last year. He was getting back to form.

The last thing I'm worried about this year is our defense. With everyone healthy and the new talent we've brought in, they're gonna be nasty.

My prediction for this game is:

Our DL rapes their OL
DT finishes the game with double digit tackles
Anthony Alford dust rolls somebody
JayTavius has 250 yards rushing
The Doctor gets surgical

I agree with all of those but this one. I don't think y'all are going to pound the ball for the first game of the year. I think Freeze wants to make a statement with Bo. If it doesn't work out early in the game, then I can definitely see y'all relying on the run game and racking up major rush yards. Just my opinion.
