Everyone loves to bring up 2009 ole miss as the first time.

I very clearly remember us playing it during 2008 LSU. I think I remember scrooster saying we played it as early as 2006. Not 100% sure of that though.

I do know that 2009 Ole Miss is when it took off though.

First time I heard it was at that Ole Miss game. I didn't attend any games before 2007 so I'm not sure if it was the first. I'll believe Rooster if he says it was done before.

Does anyone miss thunderstruck at all?

Exactly how I remember it, not sure if it was even played much after that LSU.

Definitively it may have been 2008. I dunno. I was drinking a lot back then.

I do remember it was the season opener against NC State. We had guests down from Fayetteville and I distinctively remember the comments about it to begin the game.

But, I and a couple of friends spent the week in Mississippi, at some casinos, in 2006 for the opener against MSU on a Thursday night. While we were there, one of us, a very connected guy who sat on a certain board at the time, told us about the video guys having run something by them during a meeting In The Zone the week before we left for Mississippi. The reason the topic came-up was because we were commenting on MSU's opening intro of their games, and how they were getting a new video board at Davis Wade and how our powers-that-be were also planning on changing our intro, a new video board, etc.

Okay, so the next week we're back home, against UGA I think it was, and they played Sandstorm but no one knew what to think about it - they played it too early and not enough people were in their seats yet. So I expected to hear it for the Auburn game, which was the Thursday night game where Spurrier told everyone not to ever clap for a loss, and they never played it. But afterwards there were people asking what happened to the new song. So that is my earliest recollection of when it was played, but as to whether or not it continued to play every game after that, I know it did not play for the Auburn game and I cannot remember if it played again in 2006.

That was the game where the Ref collided with Garcia right? I was at that and don't remember hearing Sandstorm. Was pretty drunk though.

My first experience was the 2009 Ole Miss game, and it was amazing. That is still the best football game I have ever attended. I remember everyone jumping, and going bananas when they would play it.

I'm probably weird but I don't miss thunderstruck. It's too...generic.

You're crazy. Have you watched the 2012 opening kickoff sandstorm video for the Georgia game?

You would replace THAT with thunderstruck?

There are a few exceptions for big games like UGA in 2012, Clemson in 2011 where the atmosphere before the game was electric enough for Sandstorm.

But noon games against mediocre/terrible opponents I'm always thinking they should turn that shite off and play something else

I remember the first time they played Sandstorm before the opening kickoff was UF in 09 when they were number 1 and I was hoping they'd only do it for big opponents.

Sandstorm should really only be played when the crowd is already riled up because its not going to get the crowd fired up on its own. Thats why its miserable and way overplayed at basketball games and why its dumb that they do it before every kickoff in football games.

I disagree to an extent. I agree they shouldn't play the shite out of it for those games. But sometimes a lot of people can only make it to those smaller games. So play it once or twice for those games so those people that can't make the huge games can enjoy it too.

Yea I'm not saying not to play it at all during noon games, just not before the opening kickoff. Or every kickoff, just the ones after we score a TD.

No. AC/DC's music is played more than enough in stadiums around the country for us to jump back on that bandwagon. Also, those songs are 30+ years old. How a/b something a little more contemporary?

Oldies but goodies are never out of style. I think we should play more Queen, honestly.
