All the other teams fans are so convinced Bama's D takes a step back this year

Gonna be fun to see some of the reactions
I don't think they take a step backwards overall but I don't think they improve. Saban is too worried about stopping the run to really let the DL talent loose to make the big plays. Mosley was the one that made the most plays against Auburn and Dix was by far your best DB. CBs might be a draw. MH and TB are more talented than last years CBs but have no experience.

The only way they would really step backwards is if people seeing what A&M, Auburn, and OU did to move the ball helps them find ways to move the ball or the CBs don't catch on fast enough.

Bama will have arguably its most talented group this year in the front 7, especially DL and the last time the pass rush was a factor and the D was absolutely all about causing hell for opposing OL and QBs we had a DL coach that coached the correct 3-4 technique to the DL, Bo Davis, who coached Zo Washington, Marcell Dareus, Courtney Upshaw, Terrence Cody, among others, and was able to help all those guys understand their role and create that havoc but most of those guys weren't the most athletic. Well Bo is back and he has a much deeper stable to work with. There will be a significant difference from the front 7 this year.

There's still a lot of experience at Safety and you are right about Hump, Brown has already showed he's talented enough that he's gonna be Bama's best (maybe better) boundary shutdown corner since Dre K or Dee whichever you prefer he's very good, if Hump is as good as advertised its gonna add a totally different feel in the passing game which forces the smaller guys everyone beat last year (and Anthony Averett RSed) get to move inside and play more zone and makes the secondary better.

This Bama D had a lot to replace but sky is the limit on how much they can accomplish
