what does making the money symbol and taunting a player and getting your team a 15 yard penalty have to do with his "character". I think it implies lack of character. It also shows his lack of respect for the purity of the game.

The cashin in signal was a joke/show of unity among his team.
They all did it.
It wasn't a satanic, capitalist ploy.
Also, one time Johnny received a penalty during the heat of competition.
I'm sure he regrets it.
I've heard this has also happened to another player or two during a game.
