No I think the AJC wants UGA fans to think Spurrier is too old to give a frick about recruits and that Nick Chubb is a retard for not understanding why Spurrier wasn't there.

Why would the AJC want that?

You assume that he doesn't understand, but his comments don't really indicate that. It's possible to understand and still be disappointed.

So it's completely on a 17-18 year old to make sure South Carolina's coaches do not have prior engagements?

None of this makes sense.

You are to be commended for toeing the company line as well as you do. However at a certain point it has to be up to a 40 year old Assistant Coach and/or Recruiting Coordinator to say the following-

"Nick, you are an important recruit to us here at South Carolina. The visit you scheduled is on a weekend when Coach Spurrier is not in town. He would like to meet with you, can you visit the next weekend?"

It really isn't brain surgery. As much as USC fans like to pick on Richt, I have yet to hear of an instance when a recruit had to hunt him down when on visit; regardless of circumstances or prior engagements. One may exist, but not many.
