The vast majority of Alabamians who are Auburn fans did not go to school there.

Much higher percentage than the other Big 6 schools, especially among those who are semi-devoted fans. Alabama has a lot of truly dedicated, spend money fans who have no connection to the school. Auburn doesn't have that, though we admittedly have plenty of no-connection fans who would self-identify as AU fans.

Alabama has about twice as many fans in the state than Auburn does (ppl who root for the school only). I cannot find the total number of living alumni for Bama but I can for AU. Auburn is the 11th most profitable program in college football that means there are a lot of sidewalk alums

I can only think of around 10 Auburn fans off of the top of my head that I work with currently, and none of them went there. They also don't donate money to the school outside of going to a game every couple of years.

But with that said, the last company I worked for did have several engineers that were AU grads (the conference room in the engineering area was actually called the plains conference room).

I think you are spot on with the fact that there are a lot of sidewalk Bama fans that give a lot of money to the university, but the AU sidewalk fans for the most part don't.
