Are you saying Alabama wasn't a decent defense this past year?
If he's not I am.

We were also about 20 seconds away from winning the National Championship..

So it goes both ways
And yet Auburn fans laugh when we say the same of our game with Alabama a couple of years ago.....ironic, huh?

That is true. On the other hand, Auburn could just as easily have been NC's.
Coulda, woulda, shoulda...isn't that what you guys keep yelling at us about our game with Bama 2 years ago? Funnyhow the same logic doesn't apply to you.
However, i a realize I am in the minority here, but I think Auburn's offense will be legit for years to come. they will be a handful for whoever they play. You made a huge turnaround very quickly. now it is up to everyone else to figure out how to stop you. Maybe we will...maybe we won't. Only time will tell.

There were 124 teams that could have lost a few more games.
Except not every one of those 124 got a returned FG 100+ yards and a tipped hail mary on 4th and long.
I'm trying to think if UGA has something similar during their championship run.

I haven't seen one person say that. You are correct. You were one play from being SEC Champs.

When it happens to you, you tend to remember those things!
And...Auburn was just shy of winning their game, as well....

I bet most auburn fans were screaming and cussing saying you should've won. I know i was.

I think it stems from trolling and people tired of hearing us say we were 5 seconds away from a National Championship. (Which I think we were) But, I have seen most fan bases bring it up from time to time...not as bad as I would have thought...but it is there.

Nope. I never said that. You should have been champs. Too bad your coach made the wrong call. That was the difference

Blaming that whole loss on that one call is dumb, of course in hindsight 20/20, but back shoulder throws had been money all year. Bama's LB made a play, Conley's instincts kicked in, and that's that.

But you left off the rest of the paragraph and it's main point. May I help?
Ignore the scores. Yes, Auburn could have easily finished 8-4 and gone to the Gator Bowl instead of 12-2 with a national title shot last year. Half of its wins came by a touchdown or less, and it used back-to-back miracles to take down Georgia and Alabama. But what's also true is that, by the end of the season -- one year after finishing 3-9 overall and winless in the SEC under a different regime -- Auburn was good enough to 1) essentially play to a draw with Alabama, 2) run for 545 yards and score 59 points in a conference title game against the SEC's best defensive line, and 3) become pretty much the only team to stay within a zillion points of Florida State.
