Thanks to KKPsi I now know a GOOD bit of your band.
Have you happened to meet any of the trombones?

You're a black person on a message board. Kinda hard to keep it secret anyways
I've never stalked anyone on here or my other forums, though.

That is true though, if I ever talked shite about the band on here it would NOT take them long to figure out who I was. But it's not like they look on here.
Also Tbird when I started following the SECr on twitter I actually saw your profile. I didn't follow you because I didn't know you at the time.

Yeah I don't even bother anymore, I just keep away from the OT
I feel like most people that have lost their anonymity on here, did so because of Twitter in one way or another.

Hey, gimme a follow! I'm the same annoying fricker irl that I am here and on social media, anyways. Once I started modding on one of my NBA sites and using my real name, I kinda just dropped all pretenses everywhere else to make things easier on myself

It's taking me a while, I didnt know so many people followed the rant.

Also very few bands actually practice inside, even if they have a band hall. It wouldn't sound right, especially for the bigger bands like LSU and Auburn. Also it would be a VERY tight fit.
You think it wouldn't sound "right?" Trust me, it sounds fine as long as you're in an appropriate room.
quote:
UGA manages to fit the entire band (minus...pit / auxillaries, I believe) - so around ~350 ish in our largest band room. It is definitely a tight fit and requires a very systematic way of entering an exiting. It's also...unbearably loud in such a room.
MSU can fit 350 in theirs too and it's not terribly tight. It is annoyingly loud when the drumline is indoors, otherwise it's fine. We have a great grove of mature pecan trees that the drums usually practice under (and thankfully OUTSIDE).

As someone who marched competitively for 7 years, holds a Bachelor's in Music from Bama, and interacted with all of the directors and members on a daily basis, I can tell you that what we have is good enough for the quality of work on the field.
Dr. O's been there a bit too long, eh?

Not sure why MSU Riley center is not on the site. That's MSU's premier performing arts/concert hall. It was built in the 1800's and was restored recently. It's part of the Meridian campus. Nothing like it in the whole state.
The Riley Center is awesome but the band never performs there.

On the East Side of campus where some of the oldest buildings are, still win numerous awards for being one of the best bands in the nation

A picture's of MSU's band/choral hall. It's not much to look at on the outside but it's very nice and useful on the inside.
The large rehearsal hall during band camp (340 in the band):
The large rehearsal hall again:
The smaller hall used by the wind ensemble:
This is McCarthy Gymnasium where the FMB now warms up on gameday.
The Riley Center in Meridian (not on campus) that was mentioned earlier:

Although I'm not working as a band director now I too was a music major at MSU and a brother of KKPsi so I was very involved with the band program.

My only connection to the Aggie Band is that all the FTAB members have to be Corps of Cadet members, as well, so I had a ton of friends who were in it. Grew up listening to FTAB marches, but I never had the acumen to play an instrument.
Marching bands are one of my favorite CFB traditions, though. I rarely leave at halftime.

Looks like some of you are posting pictures of the actual Schools of Music at your universities as opposed to band halls.
In that case...
