I totally get that. He could either be Danny Ware who sees incoming backs as a threat and the time is now to go ahead and make your bank or he can be Thomas Brown, who also came off his knee injury, and finish his career in Athens

ETA: Looking at it now him and Thomas Brown kinda look similar in career paths. Marshall, I believe, has a higher upside on his physical attributes alone but both came off of pretty gruesome knee injuries (wanna say Brown got hurt his junior or soph year returning a KO vs Vandy?) and both have decent backs coming up with Marshall leading Douglas/Michel/Chubb and Brown starting and then spelling Knowshon after Brown got hurt again

The main difference in Marshall's decision vs. Brown's is that Marshall has a lot more pro upside than Brown, like you stated. He'll get drafted higher than Brown would have, so it makes the decision a lot different.

I think he'll come back for two reasons. He is very academically oriented, and I get the vibe that the perception of him as Robin to Gurley's Batman kind of irks him a little bit, as would be expected for someone who is extremely talented in their own right. I think he'll want a year as the bell cow, if only to prove a point and write his own legacy.
