We are excited to announce the addition of Jeff Tarpley to Gigem247 and the 247Sports network. Tarpley, who has 15 years of experience covering the Aggies, will be providing Texas A&M team and recruiting coverage and analysis. “Jeff is a huge addition to our Texas A&M site,” 247Sports CEO Shannon Terry said. “He’s someone who has been in this industry for more than a decade and will bring a wealth of knowledge and insight to Gigem247. He is widely respected in the A&M community by those who follow his work and among his peers. “ A graduate of Texas A&M, Tarpley previously worked as the publisher of AggieYell.com on the Rivals.com network. He joins the talented team of Taylor Hamm and Brian Perroni. “We’re excited about the future of our Texas A&M market,” Terry said. “Gigem247 has been one of the fastest growing sites on the 247Sports network and now with Tarpley, Hamm and Perroni working together and the resources of the 247Sports network, it’s going to create one of the best team site experiences for A&M fans.” In addition to his analysis, Tarpley will continue his popular feature, “Nothing but Football Podcast” on Gigem247. “It’s an honor to be coming to Gigem247 and working with Taylor and Brian who have really established themselves in the Texas A&M market with regard to team and recruiting coverage,” Jeff Tarpley said. “I hope to be able to complement their skills by analyzing the team and recruiting and also provide some historical background having followed and covered the Aggies for so many years.” For those who have followed Tarpley over the years and want to continue to read his work on Gigem247, click the link below to sign up for a 30-day free trial.

It's real. They've already released a their first tarp/jmlittle podcast for gigem247. About a month or so ago, jmlittle started posting on the gigem247 board. A bunch of other Aggie Yell-ers came over, and the natives began asking if Rivals was merging w/ 247, would Tarp and Passwaters be joining, etc. Hamm denied that Rivals was merging, and flatly stated that Passwaters would never be a part of the site, but was very evasive/noncommital re: Tarp.
At that point, the cat was out of the bag, and Rivals eventually announced that Tarp was leaving at the end of his contract on April 1.

Hamm now has someone to guard the bathroom door Ben Roethlisberger-style.

Why is this a big deal?
Well, I haven't been a subscriber to Rivals for years, but most of the people who are/were said the best things about Aggie Yell were the community and the Xs and Os talk by Tarp and jmlittle. And it appears the former is following the latter to 247.
Tarp and jmlittle did a football podcast when they were on Rivals, and it looks like they're going to continue on 247. Their first effort for their new home seems to be free:

I haven't listened to it yet, so I still can't speak to the quality.
