Tiger Students –
I want to thank you for your support this season and let you know how excited our team is to have the opportunity to compete in front of our fans at Mizzou Arena in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament on Tuesday night vs. Davidson at 8 p.m.
As you know, our goal each year is to play in the NCAA Tournament, but competing in the NIT is also very special and something that can benefit our young club as we look towards the future. There is great value in the added competitions and practices the NIT can offer.
With that said, our Department of Athletics is designating a block of 500 free tickets for our students. The first 500 students who come to tomorrow's game will be admitted free with a valid University of Missouri Student ID. Tickets will be available starting at 6 p.m. at the outside ticket booth by the student entrance.
In addition, to those students that have already purchased tickets, you will be refunded.
This is just one small gesture to thank you for the impact you have had on our program… and it's a good way to help you save five bucks before Spring Break next week!
Remember, parking is free in most spots around Mizzou Arena. Only Lot P and Lot I are reserved and will require a pass.
On behalf of our student-athletes, Pam and myself, thank you!
Frank Haith

Cheep bastard couldn't even buy a 1000 tickets would only have cost him 5000 which he owes us for having to watch this season

I just hate being fed the bullshite. Just apologize for a crappy season and tell me you're going to use the NIT to try to improve for next year.
Oh, and make it free for EVERY student, not just 500. Or free if you bring a can of green beans if you want to turn it into a positive.

Bullshite. If you and your team are EXCITED to play in the NIT, things are fricked up. Tell us you'll attack the NIT games, you will bring more intensity, but don't tell me you're fricking excited to play in it. Bullshite.

Bullshite. Just stop with the bullshite. There is absolutely NOTHING special about playing in the NIT. Just go get the extra work in with the kids and try to convince them to not light up until after the game because something tells me they weren't waiting during the season.

This actually offended me to tell you the truth, definitely a SMALL gesture and telling me I'm poor when I already know pisses me off

Yeah, best thing when you know people are already pissed is to sometimes just say nothing at all. Go play your NIT games, get the work in, don't expect a packed house and don't talk to me until you've won a few conference games next year because the noncon is meaningless. It's like spring training games. I kind of wish they'd just make all non-con games exhibition games they're that stupid.

Also to save five bucks I would have to spend five bucks, and rest assured I had absolutely no intention of doing that. I'm contemplating if it's still actually worth it, maybe they will have door prizes, or giveaways.

Yes! I called their bluff. I intentionally chose not to get tickets today cuz I thought for sure they'd change their mind and make it free. See y'all there!

Man, one thing we could have all called Alden out on and we pick Haith. We have got to up our bitching and moaning game or heads need to roll!

Same here, I wonder how they're going to do the refunds for students who already purchased tickets, Do they cut them a check for $5, give them credit toward future season tickets, or cash. If I'm one of them I would demand a check!
Would make my year if this was the one game we sold out this season, Frank Haith and the players may shite themselves playing in front of a packed Mizzou Arena.

I'm still one of the few staunch supporters of Haith. and actually think he has received a raw deal to this point from the fans. Everyone hated the hire, but it's done, and it's time to support him until he is no longer coaching the team. In my opinion Haith would want attendance to be FREE to have as much energy in the building as possible, but Alden didn't allow it. This stinks of Alden trying to meet the bottom line.
This deserves a title change

Cool, I was trying to make a joke. I think it is cool to see students planning on going to the game. I hope it is a decent sized crowd!

I'll agree with that.
That being said, he's going to have a lot shorter leash than a person with a stronger resume than Frank Haith had at the time of his employment. He got a shot at a decent program, the cost is a short leash. Hopefully he knew that when he came to Mizzou. I'm fairly certain he knew what he was getting in to based on his history.
Has he gotten a fairly raw deal from the fanbase based on his success in the record column for Mizzou? Sure. Again, that all comes down to his previous performance though. Would a proven coach that came into Mizzou and had the same results at Frank Haith be getting shite on this much? Probably not, but then again, they wouldn't have been middling arse at Miami Frank Haith.
It is what it is. He's the mediocre middle manager that gets the shot to be the regional manager. Everything he does sucks until he proves he deserves the job/actually takes the job emotionally and until that happens he will never be good enough. This isn't an unusual situation in the NCAA basketball world or the real corporate world.

Wait I'm
whose corner are you in Mike Alden, or Frank Haith?
Frank Haith is a much better coach than people give him credit for. The talent level he is bringing in is the best ever in Mizzou basketball history. Do people honestly not remember Anderson's teams inability to rebound? Yes he has some flaws, but I believe he improved in late game situations this year with his use of timeouts/play calling. People forget his use of the timeout against Arkansas with the game tied at 64 when Ross hit the three. His worst moments didn't come until against A&M in the SEC tournament. I saw improvement from last season, just my opinion

I'll ask you a question. Was Miami's Athletic Department supporting the basketball program? The answer is no quoting his introductory press conference people didn't even know who he was. Haith has already shown he is a tremendous recruiter (although some questionable character concerns). We've won more road games in the past three seasons than when Mike Anderson was here. I believe if he doesn't win next season with the talent returning/ recruiting class coming in than his seat should get extremely hot.

Right now I'm in the corner for both. Have been for awhile. I don't think Haith has had enough time at MU to determine if he will succeed or fail. I think Alden has done a hell of a job improving our athletics. Not perfect, but few people are.

I don't care if the Miami basketball program was supported by the Miami athletic department. I'd hope whatever coach we hired would win regardless of the situation. The only thing that matters to be with any incoming coach is track record. Mizzou doesn't have enough of anything to save a decent coach from a bad situation. It's not Mizzou's job nor is it within Mizzou's ability to do so.
So we arrive at the same conclusion regardless of how we got there. I'd say extremely hot/fired, but it is what it is.
