I have time warner for internet, no cable but plan to get tv in time for football. How much is Dish if TWC doesn't get the SEC network?

SEC Network + (digital platform) press release.
Highlights include
- SEC's new ESPN driven website https://secsports.go.com/ (live now)
- SECN+ will tie into WatchESPN so if you have it and your cable has SECN, you will already be set up
- Original programming produced by the schools (probably stuff like AggieFBLife)
- launches concurrently with SECN on 8/14
- number of events that will be broadcast including several A&M soccer and volleyball games in August
ETA: this line intrigues me...

Is 12th Man Productions getting material onto the network or is our production capability separated from the SECN's?

And...
SECN will debut 4 new SEC Storied episodes during first month of network
The Stars Are Aligned - follows 14 celebrity fans (one from each school). Sadly it seems they chose Rick Perry for ours
Bo, Barkley and The Big Hurt - the 3 stars (Bo Jackson, Sir Charles and Frank Thomas) and how they ignited Auburn athletics
The Believer - Steve Spurrier story from UT fan, to playing at UF, and coaching at both UF and SC
It's Time - On October 28, 1989, Ole Miss defensive back Chucky Mullins hit Vanderbilt running back Brad Gaines in the back and separated him from the ball. While Gaines was uninjured, Mullins suffered a broken neck on the play, leaving him a quadriplegic. Details story of their friendship

Some great nuggets in this DMN article about A&M and the SECN
Go big or go home: LINK
Go big or go home: LINK
quote:
Texas A&M is doubling-down on the opportunity. The school has invested $12 million in new facilities and is not shy about its plans to take advantage.
“This is the next chapter,” said Jason Cook, senior associate athletics director for external affairs, of the next step after A&M’s 2012 move from the Big 12 to the SEC. “The commitment is go big or go home. We want to be on the SEC Network more than anyone else. We’re awfully competitive in our league. ... We work together, but we’re very competitive.”
quote:
A&M will produce games for the network in various sports, led by 12th Man Productions director Andy Richardson. It will broadcast in high definition and will have three control rooms and fiber link connections to ESPN in Bristol, Conn., the SEC Network’s headquarters in Charlotte, N.C., and A&M’s other athletic venues. The school will still produce in-stadium content and will have a new theater to show off 12th Man’s work.

If Comcast doesn't, they lose Houston.

yeah we've also heard Comcast is close so I'm not sure it's going to matter. I really thought one of the big boys would come to terms during the SECMD for the free press but it's looking like that's not happening
Btw, here is the KC Star article: LINK

If they do, it gives the appearance that ESPN wins because it's announced during an ESPN-televised event.

um, who gives a shite who "wins?" There are like 3000 credentialed members of the press in attendance who all have to write articles about something. And SEC fans, the exact people who will switch their tv providers in the coming days, are who are reading all these useless articles.
It's absolutely a home run of free, targeted advertising.

Everything in negotiations is political. Time Warner and Comcast are trying to finalize a merger right now that has yet to be fully approved by Congress.
McCain is trying to push a bill through the Senate right now that would break up the bundling ability of media outlets (channel packages, etc.). ESPN is the face of this, as there is a large number of cable subscribers that don't watch sports at all and would just as soon drop all sports channels if given the chance (all four of the most expensive channels by subscriber: ESPN, TNT, NFL Network, Fox Sports 1) broadcast major sports events and the SEC Network would immediately become #5 in terms of per subscriber cost.

not sure where you got that data but FS1 probably isn't in the top 20 as they settled for $0.23/subscriber last year to make sure they got carriage
but either way, we're getting away from topic. What does that have to do with SECN? Nothing really. They are going to carry it, it's just a matter of when. There is a massive benefit to announcing it this week that they missed out on. If indeed TWC and Comcast both announce between now and 8/14, they missed a huge opportunity.

Agreed, it puts pressure on DirecTV. As far as Fox Sports, when it was FSN, it was up there in cost. My data is 4 years old. Disney was 6th at that time.
