I'm always curious about firing remorse for schools. MSU fans, how much do you (if at all) wish you hadn't fired Stansbury? I asked the same question to Bama fans and most would take Gottfried over Grant right now.

This isn't me trying to pour salt in a wound. At the time I thought Nolan had to go, but considering our recruiting class had Nolan stayed, truths that came out about Broyles, and the decade of irrelevance that followed, that was the one I definitely regret the most. Petrino was different because we had no choice.

I don't regret firing Stansbury one bit. It was almost worse to have enormous talent on the court and shite our pants than what we watch now. I didn't think Ray was the greatest hire at the time but we're stuck with him now for at LEAST one more year.

Although this thread has nothing to do with Alabama, most fans would not take Gottfried back.

Not me. Gottfried was mailing it in, his teams were lazy, and the product was getting worse.

Grant experiment didn't work out, but there's no way Gottfried would have managed to attain even Grant's limited level of success.

From the looks of things, after his first year flash he's returned to his Bama ways at NC State. Dumped out of last year's tourney early and under .500 in the conference this season.

I'll take the coach that isn't getting it done but works hard and puts out a team that plays hard over one that's lazy any day.
