the fact that we haven't had any visitors means no other civilization could be that more advanced than us.. i think that makes sense

We haven't achieved warp yet. We're not interesting enough yet.

I disagree, us finding intelligent life and vice versa would be akin to finding a needle in a haystack. The cosmos are so vast and intelligent life so sparse that, even after discovering travel at lightspeed or warp or etc, finding intelligent life is not a given. There are still life forms on our own planet that we're still discovering.
