Dogs inside bars. Do people do this where you live?

In Fayetteville, I've noticed a strong trend towards hipsters and hippies alike bringing their dogs to certain bars. Any night of the week, you'll see someone with their dog in a bar in the Dickson area. The other night, I was at Kingfish and there were two dogs leashed to bar stools within biting distance of each other, and they got into a fight.
Do people do this in other places? There was always one random dog on Dickson owned by the Leather guy who died in a fire. There's a bar named after "Dickson Dog" (Bugsy's) now. But people bring their dogs out all the time. I expect it, and its annoying.

You can take your dog to Avondale brewery in bham. That's the only place I've seen it happen

it is rare the places i go. I have seen one person bring their dog to happys. It was a guido with a english bulldog

Just Friday night, I saw dogs in Kingfish Bar on School Ave and at Buster's on Dickson. I've seen them before at Dickson Pub and at Brewski's.

I have a friend who has a miniature pig that he has brought to tailgate parties. And there was an old hippie lady who lived near Dickson who used to walk her llama down there back when I was in school.

We have a couple dog friendly bars here, but most don't allow them inside. Mostly anyone who shows up with them at other bars keep them outside (in the Highlands lots of bars with seating just outside on the sidewalk). In the spring/summer some will put out dog bowls with water for those who are just passing by. Nothing too bad.
I've not seen anyone have issues though inside the bar. But most people without their dogs avoid the dog friendly bars.

Innisfree does as well if you go up there in the afternoon, but you obviously have to stay outside. I've taken my lab up there a few times. I would never think about bringing her at night though.

I wouldn't bring hb at night because he probably would hate the noise, if other dogs were around he would probably try and hump them and i don't want to have to watch him while I'm trying to get drunk.

The thing here is that it just happened and I was not aware of any notice stating which bars are or are not dog friendly.
IMO, over-dogging takes away from our Farmer's Market, and people here just go overboard. I see dogs in Home Depot, I've seen a giant dog (not a service animal, except in service of a big surfer douche-bro) in Walgreens.
Fayetteville hipsters/hippies are obnoxious about it, and they'll just walk in with a dog unless someone physically stops them.
Nothing personal against dogs, I just don't want a pitbull mix with his snout in my crotch as I'm trying to order a drink. I find that less than optimal for relaxation.

Here it's been pretty well established who is/isn't dog friendly. But the Highlands (our biggest local bar district) is more hippies instead of hipsters when it comes to dogs and they tend to be far more considerate of their surroundings. Most don't take them inside unless it's explicitly stated they can.
Our hipsters haven't hit the dog trend yet apparently. They're still stuck on skateboards.

Yeah hippies are preferable to hipsters in virtually every way. We have had events like this one for a few years now. Its not the only one. There's one in late summer/early fall, too.

Yeah, all over Athens, but not allowed inside due to health code. But the patio seating all has dogs, which is fine because I like dogs. I'd take mine too if they weren't demons.

One of my old hides was part of the group that created "Take your dog to Dickson", and whole slew of "take your ______ to _______" events. She's uber-hipster and ate up with the crazy.
I've noticed the Fayetteville dogs in bars are not as chill as the dogs in Stillwater bars, the Fayetteville dogs are more tense and on edge it seems. I wanted to kick the shite out of one the other day, it's owner as well. He was obviously needing out to use the restroom and no one noticed. I just knew I was gonna step in dogshit in that dark little place.
There's not many dogs as chill as Bruce's old dog, I probably wouldve taken mine once in awhile but he was super friendly and sadly a gay dog so I'd have had to throw a pink bandanna on him for laughs.
