Too high. Most figures I've seen put the gay population at 3 or 4%. I'd also think its not too far fetched to believe fewer homosexuals would pursue college football.

Depends on how you define it. From the statistics I have seen, 3-4% are likely "totally gay", but another 5-6% are actively bisexual, and about 25% have had some kind of sexual experience with another guy at least one time in their lives (although most of these are primarily heterosexual).

I agree that the percentage playing football might be a bit smaller, if for no other reason than that some are afraid of the hostility they might encounter if they were found out.

But who really knows?

10% of Western society is gay, ergo approximately 10% of SEC players are gay

Don't know but doesn't seem like a terrible thing - decreases the chance of them knocking up some sorostitute

And if more people would think like this, there would be a lot less bullshite in the world.

I'm still waiting to see if a Mizzou poster will come in here and know who I'm talking about. I met some guys from up there that were all adamant that one of their better players of the past few years was pretty flaming.

I have no idea who you're talking about, but it wouldn't surprise me for there to be gay players on every team. TBH, would be more surprising if there weren't.

Who are you talking about?

All I know is the A&M home locker room has an area specifically designed for ritual circle jerks.

I know you're referring to Julio. IDK and IDC if he's gay or not. The dudes a helluva receiver, and he always represented the university well. So not that it really matters, but he was not and is not a "flamer" (as in prancing around with a fake lisp)

The guys I met from UM swore up and down that Michael Sam was gay. No idea if that's true or not, just what they were saying

I also didn't mean this thread to trash anyone or any particular team. Those are just the two instances I've heard from other fan bases somewhat recently. I couldn't care less if Cam came out tomorrow and told everyone he was gay. Doesn't change what he did on the football field while he was here.

Don't think it works that way. I'm fairly certain that when comparing football players to hair dressers, the percentage of gays isn't going to be the same.

Texas A&M is crucified in the media/just about everywhere else for being "not gay friendly;" yet on the SECr, we're some kind of an urban legend.
It's the male cheerleaders (and the fact that "ag" rhymes with "fig").

Is this kid the first openly gay college football player? I can not say I have heard of any others.

Huh. I hadn't heard that, and have no idea. If it's true, it didn't matter to the team, because they considered him a leader and he was someone they looked up to. All I know about him personally is that he was froma tiny little town in Texas, is at least part Samoan, and is a devout Christian.

If he is, it didn't stop him from being a consensus All-American and having a great career, so it doesn't matter to me.
