Not flaming, trolling or anything else here. Rarely start any threads but wanted to ask.
aTm, congrats on another great class. Seeing what you have done the past few seasons leads me to the question.
What do you think the biggest contributor is of the recent success? I like Sumlin and think he is a really good coach, with someone like that, it always brings success on field and recruiting. Or is it the move to the SEC? I'm sure a lot of home grown players like the idea of staying in Texas AND getting to play in the SEC. And since Bama beat UT in the champ. game, they just can't get right. I know that has something to do with it but don't believe it is a main factor.
Just want to get you and the rest of the SEC's opinion.
Also, congrats to everyone else in the SEC. Schedule doesn't seem to get any easier for anyone.

They had money to begin with now they have the SEC branding with a good recruiter to boot. Plus their instate rival hates black people and success it seems.

Is Sumlin really that great a coach? It seems like almost all of his success has been predicated on having NFL caliber QBs like Keenum and JFF. He's not always going to have that, in fact most seasons he won't, he's been very lucky. Can he win without one?

So far the plan for this problem is to always have an NFL caliber QB.

Nothing to do with UT... that's just been a fun sideshow to watch.
Perfect storm for the Ags right now. Sumlin has an offense that most skill players want to play in. Unexpected (by most writers and other fans) success in the SEC. Some very entertaining games on TV vs Bama, Ole Miss, bowl wins, etc... Truth is the Ags are getting a lot of positive publicity and have been since midway through last season.
All of this has played a role. Moving to the SEC has been the driver but the success of the first year was key.
Had Ags come in and gone 6-5 in first year... we definitely would not be where we are today.

Kyle Allen is definitely an NFL caliber QB - and he will be developed just fine. Not to mention he may not even win the job over Kenny Hill.
So no, Sumlin doesn't have to worry about not having an NFL caliber QB. As for recruiting... A&M could simply dominate the state of Texas in 2015 as hasn't been seen in years.
