That article on Pettway coming back a few months ago kinda made me more iffy, it really didn't come off like they expected.
I completely get the disciplinarian aspect of letting some "troubled" on the team to rehabilitate them. I've said it plenty of times before, what's the point of calling Saban a strict disciplinarian if all he works with is straight laced players?
At the same time though, it says to some that you can do everything right and still not get an offer. Then you see someone who was kicked out of his school and arrested multiple times get one.
Reality of life, talent is more important than anything else...

Yep. People can spin it however they want, but that really is the bottomline. Coincidentally, I literally just finished watching the 30 for 30 on Randy Moss. He's the perfect example. Screwed up time and time again but kept getting opportunities because of his talent. One of his childhood friends had marginal baseball talent, got busted for pot once and it was game over...living on the streets. And all Randy can do is complain about how mistreated he's been by everyone and anyone.
