Firing mike is retarded. Let the man at least turn the roster over. If not, we'll be back to searching for the next rick ray in no time.

Could Mike Anderson beat a Tom Izzo/Roy Williams/Coach K/etc coached team if talent were the same at both schools? I don't believe so. Has nothing to do with anything other than philosophy.
Do you have faith that MA is a good enough X/O's type coach to win 5 or 6 games in a row, on a neutral court, facing the best coaches in college bball? Because I want to win a national championship. I want to employ well-rounded coaches equipped with the skills necessary to accomplish such a thing.
X/O's + recruiting. Not recruiting + streetball.
I don't think we should employ a coach whose modus operandi exludes sound half court execution. You can't win a NCAA championship, in this century, without it.
Do you have any criticisms? If you haven't noticed, mine starts with halfcourt offense. Am I to assume that you're okay with that aspect of MA's system?

My criticisms are mostly for the players and the execution. I find it funny that you criticize our half court offense while we're scoring more points than any Arkansas team in a long time.
I realize that we don't run a lot of set plays. We also don't have a good point guard. That will change next year with Beard. I know Arkansas fans don't want to hear "next year," but it's the reality of the situation.
Mike is responsible for a COMPLETE REBUILD of this program, that takes more than 2 seasons.

So a win against Kentucky is worth nothing, but a loss to Mizzou is a firable offense?
LSU just whipped Kentucky tonight. We had a miracle happen to beat them. Madden has done the same shite in every loss down the stretch, Qualls just bailed him out against UK.
The question should be, why is LSU already better than us?

They've got a new coach just like us and are already better. Why don't we have a PG in year 3? That should've been addressed by year 2 a the latest. What if Beard doesn't pan out, then what wait two more years. frick that

Madden acting like BJ Young isn't on Mike. Mike was livid when Madden took that bullshite shot off the top of the backboard out of the timeout late in the game. He was half way out on the court screaming at Madden because that's not what was drawn up.
Problem is Madden is one of our best players, and you can't have him on the bench in that situation because he's a pretty good scorer. He's also gotten incredibly selfish the past few games in crunch time, unfortunately.
Mike is recruiting to get out of this. He still needs time to repair the program after Pelphrey left it in shambles. As Hog fans I wish we could be patient and realize it takes more than two seasons to rebuild a program.

That's BS. I wouldn't play his arse again, is the simple solution. I guarantee a top notch coach would bench his arse and use a Kiko or anything honestly. He's done this shite, what basically every SEC game that we've been close in late. It's terrible and that's on coaching. Fool me once etc etc. Anderson takes the blame, he makes millions of dollars to win games and we're not getting it done

Im not sure firing MA is the right answer, but I know he needs to be held accountable in the very least.
Posted on 1/28/14 at 11:14 pm to Hubbhogg
I'm not that big of a Madden fan myself but he's been our most consistent scorer in sec play. Kikko is fine but he's not the answer, Wade sure as hell isn't the answer. Gulley would be a great 6th man but I don't think he's the answer either. Qualls has fallen off which I hate. Harris makes me want to stab my eyeballs out. I realize all these people aren't the same position but who cares it's not just Madden being a ball hog that is our problem. Blame Mike for whatever- I'm not always thrilled with our lineups out there but it would be even more ignorant to pull Madden out of the game when many times he's been the only one scoring regularly.

No, a top notch coach would actually have options on the bench outside of three guards (wade kikko scott) who wouldn't see the court for even auburn.
You have to play madden, just like he had to play BJ (until he eventually did limit his minutes).

Coach K and Izzo are probably the top 2 coaches in College BBall.

A miracle is a half court heave for the win, not a put back dunk.

They have a PG, two actually and Johnny O'Bryant doesn't hurt either.

It doesn't make sense to me though, why can't Anderson win in the weak SEC but he was winning 20+ in the much tougher Big 12?
He turned around UAB after they had three straight losing seasons under Bartow in 2 years
He turned around Mizzou after the Quin Synder disaster ended in 2 years
Here in year 3 we're still like "WTF?"

I think it's our guard play, pel's guards.. but Mike hasn't really brought any in the last 2 classes (hasn't been able to because needing bigs and guards still on roster) to help us
other than Wagner and Bell who were both reaches

Nothing he could do about that first class, and not his fault ross didn't qualify. Hopefully beard, babb, and miles will be nice upgrades.
But even so, we lost to florida and georgia in OT. This mizzou game was close. Its not like we aren't competitive. With a couple more solid contributers we'll have a good team. I know a lot of my hope this year was placed in harris, and he's let me down.

Exactly. And they would wipe the fricking floor with MA if he happened to accumulate a comparable level of talent (winning probably 70% or more if that hypothetical played out).
That's my point. In the unlikely event that we get back to the championship, I'd prefer that our coach has the capacity to run a sideline out of bounds play that results in a clean look.
Go watch Rick Carlisle coached teams. They are surgical in their execution, ESPECIALLY in late game situations. I wouldn't trust MA to draw up a play for a clean shot if my life depended on it. And that's a pretty basic building block.
I don't have a problem with players missing shots in crucial situations. I have a problem with players either abandoning the offense with no fear of repercussions, or the lack of an offensive identity, which we lack.

He looked awesome early in the year and was one of our better players, now he barely even contributes. Definitely a head scratcher.

It's almost like we're no longer playing Our Sisters of the Poor or something.

Yea I agree. He's been hamstrung because the needs he has when the players come off the roster and to this point that need hasn't been guards. It has been more size and length along with true Bigs.
I think he needs to upgrade his staff with at least one great recruiter but I don't think he will ever do it. We are competitive but to run this system you need great guards who can press athletically but also shoot. On Harris people thought because he had good numbers on a bad Houston team he would walk in here and be an impact player.
He just can't let Allen in 2015 and Monk in 2016 get away and he needs to add to those guys in their recruiting classes. Maybe we can get Jimmy Whitt and Allen next year and another pure shooter to go with them.
